Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks

B.M wrote: Sat 11 May 2024 6:58pm Since when are we rebuilding?
Let's be fair B.M, we are rebuilding every year we do not win our 2nd Premiership. To say we are there without adding to our list, is a fallacy and a denial. Every club rebuilds, including the Premiers.

You are correct there B.M., but you are missing the point as easily as we kick them.

Re: Membrey should have been subbed off, Not Hayes!

Interesting Vortex that King should be added, why not Webster? Apparently he was going to be making everyone in the opposition's F50 look over their shoulder after his courageous practice match act. We need quality mids with pace and good disposal. Plugger would struggle with how we kick the ball in...

Re: Membrey should have been subbed off, Not Hayes!

We did - which is why Battle had to be used forward You need 7 We had 8 (counting the sub) and not counting Sincs Which is why we were unbalanced What Hawthorn did exploit was our 3 taller defenders which are slow- ensuring 1 had to play on a small Moore, Ginnivan and Watson had a mismatch What was...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks

I see RoMa had a ton of Supercoach points, grab, kick, turnover...Meek beat him in the ruck contest and gave their, equally average, midfield a better than 50% chance of a clearance. We need a genuine centre bounce ruck or else we will always be playing catch up from our D50. But, hey, RoMa got alot...

Membrey or Garcia

I called for a sub in the first quarter when it was apparent that we had mismatches in our d50 and needed Paton on
Weren't people bemoaning we had too many defenders?

I struggle to see why the Cat deserves any acknowledgement, but each to their own, I guess.

Re: Phillipou Close to Signing

Great news. He's 19 and possesses a lot of talent. Two more pre seasons and he will become one of our most valuable players alongside NWM, Owens and Wilson. The last thing we need to be doing is throwing the toys out of the cot with any of our 1 to 3 year players. Let's face it, Acres is making us l...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 7 2024

If umpires cannot adjudicate incorrect disposal then it's time to get rid of the rule. Tackles where the ball comes out being called play on, players throwing the ball over their heads like seasoned boundary umpires. The game is dying a slow death under the belief it needs to speed up.

Re: Trade King

Today he had a set shot (maybe his only one) from around 40 metres out, slightly to the right of goal, and it slewed off badly to the left. One would have hoped he would have learnt from last week when he had two shots from the same position which also slewed off exactly the same. And surely it is ...

Re: Trade King

B.M., I watched, he was great in the ruck today. He can always get a stack of football. Just acknowledge that you always seem to point out when we get smashed in the ruck, it is in the centre. Yet you never appreciated the work of Ryder, bemoaning the worth of a ruck tap. We always look a better sid...

Re: Half backs vs StK

I don't think either of those half backs caused the turnovers that ultimately resulted in game killing goals that lost the game for us. Nor did they have any influence on the goals our forwards missed. Again, you have said it often, the half back role is a gimme when it comes to possessions. Someone...

You are quite hard to follow at times. When we had Ryder, you kept saying Marshall was not a forward and we were killing him and ourselves playing him forward. (paraphrasing)

Re: Trade King

I still believe he's the player we can build a Premiership forward line around. That said, regardless of injury, I would have dropped him for next week, along with a few others who need to know, A) They are not indispensable B) Have not made it yet.

Fair selection. Jones was ordinary for an experienced player. A poor standard for the young players. He's better than last Sunday.
