Re: Ins and Outs
As an aside, I dont get the obsession with bringing Schoenmaker in every week, is it just the obsession with us getting potential value very late in the draft? Not knowing all the VFL stats, with all the focus on how many disposals he is getting I get the vibe he is basically a younger Bonner, all ...

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
I did a criminology grad cert for my own learning when I was new at my job (3-4 years ago) - I’m a health professional in a court setting. One of the essay questions I tackled due to its interest, was are the Australian public happy with their legal system (or something to that that effect). At this...

Re: Darcy Wilson
Higgins for all of his flaws is quite an effective and pretty consistent small forward. If he could straighten up his goal kicking to always mail the gimmies, he’d be elite

Re: Byrnes, Bonner Not up to it..
I have been bullish on Byrnes since his strong start to last year but IMO his game has too many deficiencies. He’s an extreme runner that can’t win a lot of ball… so whilst it’s great he gets to contests… he tends not to do a whole lot there. Given that he’s not lightning fast… he’s the type of play...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
Why …someone tell me why Max King can’t lead up at the ball carrier??? Why stand around, wrestle, for miracles?? FMD if you jump you’re about 8ft ….so stand and wrestle??? Rob Harvey WTF are you teaching re forward craft …oh wait.. 1-5 down centre clearance…wow we are way off it 3 years away.. IF e...

If someone does not like this post for political reasons, then tough s***. I rest my case on a truth Defence. I don’t like this post on the basis of needless hostility. The content before this was an opinion that you didn’t back up… which is fine. Then you fire the above out directed at… the people...

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
Another issue IMO is the picking btw causes. I want to start this opinion off by making it clear that this view is not directed specifically at particular forumites - most notably BM and fireman who have expressed a preference for football to stay out of social issues. I respect that and don’t want ...

Re: Durrrrrr Howard
200cm key defenders are hard to find and even average ones are worth having. Howard has played some solid football for us in the past and when it comes to one on one his record is good except for the heavy giants like Dixon and Hawkins. He is not strongly built and that's a pity. I think the issue ...

Re: Team v Roos
Are we a bit too tall ? Both our small forwards are out so I thought Collard would come in. The ball might come out of our forward half too easily (like usual) if it hits the deck. I love Hayes but his selection says Marshall is missing ?? Given that he’s not in great form… and I know it’s already ...

Yes, he played well for Sandy, but I thought Ross n the other coaches were reluctant to drop anyone
FMD!
Seems like a decent return

Re: Players in question for 2025?
Well Allison is gone… no questions there. Jones appears to have run his race Ross and Membrey are struggling for form now and age is against them both Paton simply looks to be a shadow of his former but may be saved by the lack of a suitable replacement. Especially if Webster retires. Dougal Howard ...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 7 2024
I gotta say… really impressed with young Caminati tonight. Presented and locked dangerous. Our forward line in general is a bit of a shambles with King, Caminati, Coops and Membrey being too tall and all over each other. Seems to me that Caminati is the most competitive of the bunch but he seems inc...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 7 2024
Most seem reassigned to a loss Hard to know what an acceptable result would be. Am not loving the fact the Caminati is playing hurt. It’s been suggested Howard plays forward too which makes me feel we’re way too tall. With Byrnes in poor form… feel like we’re a mid down too. Seems like less than 30p...

Pbly his best performance on the year to date IMO. I liked that a lot more than his bigger numbers against lowly opposition
Wish we’d kept him ahead of Jones

Re: Attendance v Dogs
I was going to go but learned that trains had been replaced by coaches on my line. That adds an hour to a trip both ways, on a night where I would have struggled to get home by midnight anyway. I ooh’ed and aaah’ed RE driving but battling peak to either battle parking or pay $25 for a secure spot wa...

Re: Forward coach under pressure .
Is it the forward coach though!?
Is this Harves’ structure or is he trying to make what Lyon wants work?
Initial thoughts… part of Robert Harvey’s legendary status was achieved by hitting leading forwards on the chest. That’s not what this is.

Re: Zak Jones
You’re not really acknowledging that he’s an absolute shadow of himself at the moment. No impact out there. Has had a good few games now and should be amongst the best mids… had 7 touches to half time. That went with his 11 vs Richmond. His numbers are on par with Sharman who you’re ready to execute

Re: Crab watch
Gresham’s talent has never been in question. The challenge was always more his consistently vs cost of keeping him. And that’s a balancing act because his position is a tough position. Always turns in a number of match winning or close thereof performances a year. Less polished than Billings but has...

Seems to me that it’s easy to lay into the forwards and backs…
But the middle is the issue.
Absolutely smashed with the ball moving through the ground at ease

7 touches, can’t get near it
To put that into context… Garcia and Sharman have 6
