Re: Picks 18 to 25 - pot luck?
Apparently it's a very even draft up til around 20-25. Having 18, 19 and 25 we'd have to hit at least one of them, surely!

Re: Scharenberg, I think he's been discounted by many Saints fans as he has played predominately as the half back 'quarterback' for SA (the infamous Goddard role) & we have half backs seemingly coming out of our ears. I suppose we have to consider that; * Scharenberg could develop into a tall i...

Re: Lee, Saunders, Wright
Why hasn't Wright played for a while? I really think the kids have been managed a lot this year. We've seen Murdoch, Saunders, Webster all come in early then get dropped. Then come back in recently. Ross played half the season then been rested lately. Chance at playing this week - I think he'll pla...

I'm a fan but... If he is in our top 3 players, it says to that me our list is in really bad condition, which I guess 2 - 8 also says... Yep. And he is only 21 and still improving. He shouldnt be our 3rd best player already. Man we need to find about 5 good players. Remember that he's playing excep...

Re: Webster's Progress
I think he is a natural HB Like Roberton, Geary, Wright.... The seem like straight run, line breakers to me.... Some players are not suited to the midfield and don't need to be to make them any better or help the team Eg/grant birchall Team need defender Roberton, Geary, Wright, Webster, Fergusson....

Re: How far off resurge are we ?
I suspect we'll stay at this 13th-16th mark for another three or four years before pushing for the finals, then hopefully being a premiership contender a couple of years after that. So by 2018 I think we'll be a finals side. We just don't have enough quality players in/reaching their prime over the...

Re: Tonights positives
2011 draft looks a ripper for us; Ross, Newnes & Webster all look like class and 200 game players. With Daniel Markworth to return. He most certainly would have debuted this year if he hadn't done his knee. Smart (not only in football terms) and a class character as well. Similar to a lot of re...

Some info on JWebb from BigFooty. Includes some phantom draft material: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/webster-jimmy.892620/ FWIW, I remember reading a couple comments from people who saw him play saying he's really good. Bordering on elite ball usage. Check out the first passage of play. Tha...

Gerard was saying he was highly saught after as a 17 year old and expected to go top 10 but then something changed? He kept referring to fault gartlett as well in the same conversation / remarks, anyone else pick up on that? Something like Garlett dropped out and Wright was the one which replaced h...

Re: Saints V swans
Good write ups Berg and WO. Of note, Nathan Wright was an over ager in the TAC cup last year so being more mature than most new recruits we should see him play more senior footy this year. I don't want to get too excited about the young fella but it's hard not to. His breakaway speed and ability to...

We have some f***** sooks here... However I go to bigfooty for general footy news... I'd come here for news and there for some... slightly less violent (a...

Generally in the 'Unders' you would turn that age during the year. So I think it counts.
Of course an Under 24 team would work much better for us to compare everyone

Re: The Pelican
Seems like Hickey and Lee are going to be marked a hell of a lot harsher than any of the players we may have picked up at 12/13. Despite the fact we also got picks 25/26 which can still net us a decent player. In this range in the last couple years we've picked up players like Ross, Ledger, Newnes, ...

Re: Saints offer Pick #25 and Cripps for Brown
Cripps cost us pick 24 in the draft and what 3 years of development? Naive to think all we are giving up is 25. We are giving up a lot more than that. It is overs and we should place a line in the sand, move on and get him for nothing next year And WC have put in 6 years of development for a pick #...

Re: How good is Hicky actually?
Emma Quayle rates him pretty highly. That's enough for me.
And considering we got Pick 25 with Tom Lee. We will essentially get Hickey and Lee (pretty much ready to go KPP's) for Pick 12. And still with a pick in the 40s as a bonus.
Get it done Saints.

Re: Tom Lee Traded for our pick 12
Also GWS never had these players. They have been 'pre-listed' and qualify under one thing or another. Essentially are there for GWS to trade and receive picks for.
They were never going to have Saad, Milera or Lee in their team if we didn't trade for them.

Re: Tom Lee Traded for our pick 12
Kicked 6 goals in the Foxtel Cup And if we do indeed move pick 24 to GC for Hickey it's essentially Pick 12 for Lee & Hickey. Which sounds alright. A couple 21 year olds. Fills our need for KPP's and a ruckman in one swoop. Also the right sort of age. Will have to wait a while to see how it pans...
