Stupid call. DMac was easily one of our best. Eddie did a few good things but largely unsighted.

Re: Saints inactive this FA and trade period?!

Hope we are inactive. We finished mid table. We have a young list. We have a huge opportunity with two top ten draft picks. We are in a development phase with our list mgt. Don't panic by chasing ordinary mature players. Let's just back ourselves and stick to developing our own kids. Sure if u can ...

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread

Great result for the club today re: Carlisle
If (and it's a big if) we keep hold of pick 14, I'd be seriously looking at this kid:

Has something special about him.

Tomlinson will be off to the Blues.
Believe this gives us front running for Carlisle.

Re: Jake Carlisle

Carlisle's decision will be purely based on remuneration, despite what may or may not be said. The Saints won't pay overs for him in terms of trade value or contract. That probably says as much about Carlisle as anything else. But, don't be too disappointed if we miss out. There's another Victorian ...

Re: Mc Cartin

Any comparisons with Hogan at this stage are seriously unjust. Technically this is Hogans 3rd season in the AFL given he spent a year 2013 in the VFL and then had an injury interrupted 2014 (lower back injury) which would have been used predominantly to build up body strength. On VFL form, Hogan kic...

Re: Jake Carlisle

Not sure that it is as 'cut and dry' that he's off to Carlton as Jaxons has stated. That may be so, but I can tell you that St Kilda has made a significant play for him in the last couple of weeks. I think from Carlisle's point of view money may be the determining factor - but if its not, then the p...

Re: Jake Carlisle

Not sure that you understand the deal - yes pick 6 goes to Ess, but pick 20 odd and Carlisle come the other way. We obtain Carlisle and move forward with 2 picks in the top 25.

Re: Jake Carlisle

Obviously I can't reveal the source - but it is someone in a full-time role at St Kilda. However, you don't need to be a genius to join the dots - he wants to play Full Back and wants out of Essendon, we have a need in defence and the dollars available. His age also fits our recruiting strategy - al...

Jake Carlisle

Jake Carlisle to StK is becoming a very strong possibility - the player is keen to come to the Saints with the offer of good $$ and playing without interruption in his preferred position at full back. The Dogs are out of the race and Carlton are looking to rebuild through the Draft, not through Trad...

D-Mac & Membrey IN

Dmac and Memberey In for this weekends game. Club has made it clear they want to get games into Daniel prior to the end of the year. They have earmarked the players with long term futures and will continue to put games into them regardless of VFL form That would spell trouble for others eg. Saunders.

Agreed MC Gusto - very excited by this kid (more so than McCartin).
197cm and already ~100kgs. Took 7 marks in the wet last week v. Coburg in torrential rain. Exciting times.

Take it easy Winners Only - he told the players to dig deep and fight through the hurt because the whole team would be hurting. I wouldnt be expecting a William Wallace type speech from the Coach prior to a 2k time trial.

Has anyone seen this kids highlights? (see below) http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-10/17-days-to-the-draft-meet-jayden-laverde To me, he looks like an absolute star - 190cm, strong build, beautiful kick left and right foot, solid mark overhead. He reminds me of Pendlebury/Fyfe in many ways. Person...

Re: Shoenmakers

You don't play 15 games in a premiership season for team like Hawthorn by being a 'spud'. I think he's better suited as a forward than key defender - 195cm and 23yo, so he fits our list well. Worth a late pick if he decides to leave the Hawks.

Re: Armo linked to Tigers

Given the demographics of our list there is 0% chance the club would look to trade out a 25yo hardened inside mid whose a potential captain.
If we trade Armo we might as well trade Joey, Jack Steven, Gears, Gilbo and start from scratch.

The way the games being played I think these 190-194cm versatile defenders are becoming crucial, which is why having Gilbert consistently sidelined has hurt us so much.

Can he kick the footy well enough gringo?
