Re: Round 7 Team

To be fair, from what I have seen, Ledger is an elite ball winner. An inside mid. Hayes, Polo, Jones, Steven... and don't forget how many of Dal Santo's possessions are contested. On the other hand with Siposs, medium forwards who can kick long and accurately at St Kilda... can anyone name me anothe...

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs

I see Blake, Jones and Polo get everything out of themselves. Then I see Gram.

As far as I see it in 2012, either youth or honesty. If you have neither, you are out of the team.

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs

Here's what I'd like:

Fisher to come up. (Now listed as "test".)
Gwilt to be included.
Gram to be excluded.

Re: GODDARD the defender who cant defend?

He's not playing that much as a spare man at the moment, and perhaps that is the problem. Oppositions are making him accountable.

Re: Ruckman

I can't remember us winning too many clearances, especially when the game was on the line early in the last quarter. This is when our incredibly fit and large ruckman could have kept going, rather than what happened, which is Hale eventually monstering Blake and Stanley.

Re: Ruckman

Winners Only - you'll find out how valuable McEvoy is in the next few weeks...

The two I would target are Goldstein and Bellchambers, as they should be playing seniors, but aren't/won't be when everyone on their team is fit.

Re: This weeks team - official

Wilkes can catch it and kick it. I think he probably brings to the table about 90% of what Kosi brings, and Kosi did go and get himself stupidly suspended. Until Wilkes deserves to go back to Sandy... I'd be happy with either in the side. Hawthorn have gone small - Gibson and McCauley out. Remember ...

To be fair, we are 136-81-4 since the start of 2003. We should have good records against most sides.

Re: Incompetent umpiring

The holding the ball rule is a reasonably simple rule adjudicated poorly, with umpires having an tendency to make decisions when they are not in a good position to see a player trying to get rid of the ball. The rule is thus: If you are tackled before having prior opporunity to dispose, you must att...

Re: Incompetent umpiring

It should be said that the added degree of difficulty associated with recently introduced rules, and the insistence of rules that adjudicate not on what an umpires sees, but what is believes was the intent of the player, makes umpiring much more difficult than it should be. What would be wrong with ...

Re: Incompetent umpiring

I would be happy if the AFL listened to any club. I feel they don't listen to any of them.

We had the best of it against the Doggies, but the other three matches have been akin to fighting with one hand tied behind our backs.

Re: Incompetent umpiring

Firstly, at least five Freo goals came from umpiring decisions or non-decisions. Secondly, saying "we're all human, everyone makes mistakes, it's why pencils have erasers", LEGITIMISES THE MAKING OF MISTAKES. Trust me, AFL umpires are beyond reproach or criticism as all criticism is treate...

Re: The Jumper

Firstly, Collingwood have three jumpers, of which two are clash jumpers. So to suggest they aren't coming to the party is incorrect. There is only one recalcitrant team in the AFL regarding clash jumpers: Essendon. Secondly, the game has changed so much, with such an emphasis on maintaining and prot...

Re: Official: McEVOY worst tap ruckman in competition

First of all, saying someone is the worst tap ruckman in the league and will never improve is the opposite of constructive criticism.

Secondly, he is decidedly better than a "reasonable contested mark".

Re: What's the point?

Losing becomes a hard habit to break. We may see this with the Gold Coast this year, and with GWS in the future. Also, I think some supporters would like to see us "play for the future" because it is a defence mechanism. We don't want to see our team bust their backsides and still lose, we...

The first game I can remember being taken to was a mate of my grandfather's taking us into the Animal Enclosure at Moorabbin for the last game of 1985. The one where we beat Footscray.

It's a Sunday Twilight game on EASTER SUNDAY.

The amount of training pretty much precludes older players from playin in the VFL, because they still need to get an income outside of footy. There is no incentive for a guy like Baker to play VFL. As far as I know, Baker would have to be approved by the league, and may have to attend a hearing. But...
