Re: Saints Xmas WishList
Given that we're only a few days before Xmas, what do we want Santa to deliver us for Xmas? My wish would be for Luke Ball to have an uninterrupted pre-season that allows him to ahve the season we know he's capable of having. Again I want Luke to have a real big impact on next season - not as a tag...

Re: another one
A polished player with good big man skills. Unfortunately the Saints couldn't hold him in Melb and went on to be the main follower in an Eagles Premiership side. A lot better than a GOP.happy feet wrote:I would also like to nominate Paul Harding. Did a good job in the ruck against much taller opponents.

Re: AFL
There is no profit for us in a bad relationship with the AFL and its people. What we need is a professional and strong administration who can foster a working and professional relationship and put the Club in as best position as possible. It is essential that we are strong and we show the AFL that ...

If we are going to be 'genuine' contenders in 09 the improvement must come from those players behind our top echolon group. I understand what others have said about Ball and Dal but these two understand what's got to happen for them to regain their previous impact on the game; its the group behind t...

This are a no winners o losers post. From a totally subjective viewpoint the I can summarise the points that stick in my brain when the side struggled or wonder why we have salary cap issues with no 'wriggle' room, wonder why there were no decent ruckmen there to give our midfield a flying chance or...

Going with Ross' Sydney connection, Jason Ball could be a chance. I would somehow doubt if he would move interstate for what is basically a part time position. I seem to recall that Ball was a Board member of the Swans and worked for the Macquarie Bank in Sydney. Unless he's had a dramatic change o...

Why do we need a ruck coach? In my limited experience where ass't coaches have specialist roles in the training etc of the team two things seem to happen. The first is it takes some of the pressure off the senior coach ie the coach knows what he wants but it is impossible to do everything to prepar...

they have been replaced. Barker and Rock out.... Tudor and Hutchinson in. Tony Elshaugh is midfield coach. Leigh Tudor is forward coach. SOS is backs. When did the Club announce Elshaugh as the mid field coach? I recollect that on another thread someone (I can't find the post now) explained what ro...

Recognised Ruck coaches obviously hard to find. Reputations for ruck coaching put Maddern and Sam Newman at the top of the coaching tree based on their work with other AFL Clubs. Apart from the names already mentioned the only other ones that come to my mind are Paul Salmon Damian Monkhorst (had a ...

Bozza 1980 I think Clinton Young in H'thorn's midfield is the player they have to kick the big goals when they really need them. I remember that goal he kicked in the 08 GF from outside 50 metres before he went off injured and I saw him do it (similar goals) when watching a few H'thorn games during ...

Thats pretty much how I see it. Facts are you simply have to go up a cog each year. There will be a team with a marked improvement and I honestly dont expect Hawks/Cats to go plummeting - they are the benchmark. I dont believe that Ball, Dal, Montagna, Hayes are gonna morph into the levels of Kerr, ...

It is not the policies or making policies on the run that seems to be the main problem. Every Board sooner or later (in this case later) must make decisions for the organisation to keep functioning. It is the lack of process and structured approach to consideration of issues so to make decisions th...

Again I have knowledge of the kids in the draft but I think we take a midfield type, big runner with pace when needed to make position with ball handling and brain skills to go with it. Someone with some development has some strength to their game as well. ( Sounds like a blue print for Chris Judd d...

RBnW I do not agree. From what I know about R Niixon he is a hard nosed negotiator who is close if not at the top of the tree as player managers go. In negotiations reputations are everything (IMO) otherwise they ultimately go nowhere. I would think that R Nixon had a very large slab of his reputati...

RBnW you are correct. At no stage did the Board state they would take him but by their very actions of meeting with him, assessing him, discussing the circumstances under which he would come to the Club if they selected him over 5 months you would be hard pressed (at thye least) to deny that the par...

I agree with the comments made on how this whole episode has been handled - inadequately at the least. The club failed to keep information flowing over such a lengthy period of time mainly to supporters but also to Cousins. Based upon the information Board has released (and I suspect subsequently le...
