Thommo only suggested it to Marty Pask (Dawson's manager), who in turn gave nothing back.

Thommo even pre-empted the comment by saying it was pure speculation as Dawson could be a good fit for Fremantle.

So wouldnt take it as anything more than a rumour with no grounds.

Would we look at promoting Jackson Ferguson or even Curren? Wouldn't think so. Both are only first year rookies, so we can keep them on the list for a second year if we want. We can always upgrade them within the year if we want or need them to play senior footy. No point delisting a senior player ...

problem with that is that we chance losing walsh to any club if he goes into the ND.....I reckon he would be snapped up well and truly before 58...infact I reckon he would go before 40... We can just promote him onto our senior list before the draft when we do our list lodgement...as long as we mak...

Yep you're right. If this guy didn't have a year left on his contract - he'd be gone.
Wouldnt be feeling too safe if I was Cahill either....

Interesting point BigMart. So the suggestion would be that if we were to trade out another player (I will use Ray as an example), we should accompany him with a pick (e.g. 39), hoping to perhaps get a late 1st round pick for him, rather than a 2nd rounder... Makes sense. Also, we can actually use on...

Rhys Stanley....time to actually give the kids a go.... or we could recruit a good ordinary hack to take more of his development time..... Agree, he has to start playing, same goes for Winmar. If they are not up to it, we need to find out and move on. Unfortunately we can't wait until Stanley gets ...

Not over the hill

I think there has been plenty of doom and gloom recently - what started with Lyon walking out, all the talk of losing Goddard, our failed finals campaign, the salary cap and more, I think it's time to start looking ahead to some much more positive times. I close my eyes and picture that photo taken ...

Cases like this seem to be seen almost every year around the trade period - a player wants out, the club wants him, and even though he is uncontracted, the club refuses to trade him. The hope is then that they can convince him to stay within that one month window between the end of trade period and ...

Re: McCarthy from Collingwood?

22 Year old midfielder who is very very unlucky not to be playing 22 games a year.. just cant break into their midfield and will look for another club next year. Good solid midfielder who kicks goals. Could be a handy addition to our midfield, add some depth. Should we go after him next week? Discu...

I ask myself why Dawson and Ray have not signed new contracts at this point of time. Have they had better offers from elsewhere I wonder? The club has suggested through a few quotes that Dawson especially is waiting to hear from the new coach about what sort of role and worth he will have to the te...

Lonely Bevo

First question would be, was it a caller that stated this, or one of the callers?

Wonder how long this process will take... It will be hard for us to commit to any major trades - in or out - with no senior coach named. Players we are trying to poach would likely be put off from coming to a club where there is not yet any senior coach. Also, would surely have to be a coach decisio...

I just posted this in another thread... As for the U17 draft - or the 'mini draft' - clubs can offer GWS anything they want - players, picks, or a combination of both - GWS then rank the quality of the deals, which subsequently determines the draft order in the mini draft. So hypothetically, if we w...
