Re: Lewis Pierce

Gee, looking at that Utube footage, I can see a lot to like. It may be blind optimism from an old [maybe even ancient supporter], but I can see a lot of Dean Cox in that ruck work.

Re: My Best Saints Team of the Last 50 Years

That forward line wouldn't need "Defensive Pressure", they'd provide "Scoreboard Pressure". Also don't forget Bob Murray for Full Back and Verdun "Snowy" Howell to Back Flank.

Re: Loyalty at breaking point - The Age

I think its on the money with conferences or whatever term is used. The AFL has been working toward this for a while now. By having 2 teams from each non Vic State, you can structure up conferences. IE Each Group has half of the Vic clubs plus ONE of each from W.A., S.A. Qld and NSW. So you could ha...

Yep, it's advised as they're limiting the game to 15,000, [which I think is optimistic] however kids U 15 are free when the tickets are pre booked.

I for one think its a great deal!!1 I live in rural Victoria and seeing a live game, by that I mean going to a home game cost about $140.00-$150.00, taking into account tickets, fuel, food, parking, beer and pies!![that is if no parking/ speeding fines are incurred] 6 games x $150.00 = $500.00 At $15...

I'm not sure that LB would have to sit out of football entirely if he ended up at the GC next season. They will be fielding a VFL team in 2010 and perhaps Luke could lead that group. With the talent they have aready assembled at GC, he might be playing in a more successful team than Melbourne or Ric...

As well as a poncho and a drop sheet, large dishwashing gloves worn over woolen/polar fleece gloves will keep them dry and warm!!!

Bob Murray: True Saint Legend

Had the occasion to bump into this true Saints legend and gentleman this afternoon. I've known Bob since his playing days. Both of us met by chance in the local shopping CBD, but haven't seen him for a while. Anyway, naturally the discussion centred on the Saints, the G.F. and the generosity of the ...

This is the news I've been waiting for!!!

I had an "omen" like dream weeks ago with Roo holding up the cup, with the team all around him and a sea of red, white & black streamers everywhere.

They were wearing the traditional uniform with the black shorts!!!!!

Without doubt it's Adelaide!!!! They way they took it from us in '97 cut me deeply. The long 3 hr drive back to NE Vic was very hard to take after the loss with that dam "Pride Of S.A." blasting out of the radio. Sundays game was the first Saints match I've watched live since that match!!!...

Re Gwilt,
They have tried several players in his spot and he is the best by a long way
I couln't agree more. He seems to now realise this himself, showing some real intent against the Roos last weekend.

Perservere with Gwilt.
The Hawks sealed the Premiership with a Gwilt like player, albeit more expereinced...Stewart Dew!!!!
When Gwilt has a flat period, which all players have over a season, he'll be dropped. Until then, appreciate how far he's come, ah la Blake.

What a fantastic offer! Thanks Sainter_Dad!!! A traditional Saturday Arvo would be best, as that fits in with our train timetable, leaving SC station at 5:15P.M. The fixture shows the Essendon game as a Sunday twilight game, so we might have to consider our options re travel & car parking somewh...

Cheers again. Looks like Level 3 is the go then. Now we just have to pick a game. Maybe against the Tigers, so we're almost guaranteed a win. I remember how I felt after the '97 GF going home after the match. In fact that was the last live match I attended. I swore never again feel so down about a b...

Thanks all for the info! A further query if you don't mind. Which level at the dome is it best to SEE the game. As an older fella I don't want to be to far from the game. Ticketed stadium

My query is similar. I'm from the "Bush" and I've not seen the Saints play live since their heyday at Waverley, where I found it was easy to get to and you just had to walk up to get in and get a seat. Now my 9 year old Grandson, who is a keen Saints supporter, [following the Family tradit...
