I'll take the run and carry aspect at the moment - we need it and there are not too many others giving us this. It puts pressure on the opposition going forward. :)

I liked Ray's last quarter - some great marks for a mid-size player.

Most agree that Stanley is not contributing - out. Gwilt needs a release from tall forwards, so Walsh in (instead of Blake). McQualter out. Siposs (the future) worth a try in place of Gamble up forward. If Siposs comes in, Kosi needs to make an impact up forward. To me, Winmar is simply not yet read...

Intersting point sainters#4 about bringing back Blake for the taller forwards. . I also felt sorry for Guilty - always been one of my favorites since his "out-of-the-blue" recruitment.

Put last night aside - wet conditions, first match back, low on fitness. Stanley is not performing, so we need Kosi to add some power down forward and in the ruck. Let's see how he settles over the next couple of weeks. Didn't like the look of being trodden on his ankle. Was it the crook one? Defini...

It's Steven in for McQualter from here on.

McQualter came on fresh in the second half and hardly had a touch. :!:

Hawthorn recruiters specifically chased left footers who were great kicks, a few years ago and grabbed a Grand Final. It seems that kicking skills are a low priority for our recruiters. :!: :!:

As I mentioned on another thread, Dempster is probably playing a specific role each week and the Match Committee are obviously happy with what he is delivering. The Saints supporters mark him hard at times. He came to us with a reputation as a good kick, but all I hear is how hopeless his delivery i...

My guess is that Dempster is doing a pre-determined role each week and the match committee are happy with what he is delivering. :)

If 45 minutes before the game is when Final team sheets have to be put in, then that's the timing.

Could there be a change of Sub. then?

Just looked at AFL regulations. Notification of the Sub. can be left until Final team sheets are lodged on the day of the match. Not sure what the exact timing for this is?

Just looked at AFL regulations. The Sub. does not need to be nominated until Final team sheets are submitted on the day of the match.

Good to hear that McQualter will be the Sub., which means that Stanley gets a full game (or thereabouts). I am happy with that.

You are on the money again Saintbrat. A very good interview - worth a look. Nick handles himself really well. A quiet confidence that they have reviewed their mistakes, identified what needs to be done - more effort, better execution mainly. Team fitness level is OK. The tream certainly knows that i...

I'll go with Kosi also, as a power forward/part time ruck.

We need a big lift from him, more than at any other time in his career. Now is the time ........

I like your reference dcstkfc to the Hawks match in Launcestion 09 - a great example of what needs to be done! I am not disputing the poor tackle count. My point above, was that the realities need to be taken in the context of specifically, what tackles "should have" been laid in the game ...

It's all a bit too academic (too many variable) to be a worthwhile discussion.

You would need to watch the footage - what "should we" have tackled vs what we "actually" tackled.

There is no easy answer on this. All parties have their (different) points of view, with the media having the final "public" say. Accreditation of 1,500-odd media people by the AFL is not good, as they all compete for stories/exposure - anything that makes a headline will do! The clubs and...
