Re: Bowes
It’s all a bit academic, even if we took the Bowes deal our clowns would only have one more first round draft pick to stuff up.

Hill put in the short steps at the finish, Jack Peris would have been a better option

Re: De Goey offered 5 years from the Pies .
We have got to have a win on any deals, forget De Goey, take Bose and pick 7 from GCS picking up his payments, Long to GCS for a second round pick in separate deal, Hill to North for late 1st or early 2nd round pick but no ongoing payments. If Hill deal stalls only then look at moving Clark out on a...

Re: Josh Battle: @ CHB KPP. What is the verdict?
Currently our best option at CHB, Lion’s Darcy Gardiner is free agent and a little taller and may want to come back to Victoria. Adams does not look all that promising so we really need to find a tall defender as Battle is not tall enough for the monster forwards. I believe we would have taken Gibus...

Re: Quiet as a mouse...
Fact is B.M we don’t have many good players to get rid of, the names being bandied around like Hill, Clark, Bytel, Long and Gresham are all average players that play the occasional good game.

Re: Trade - Draft 2022 Discussion
At present it appears that going to the draft might be are only chance to find quality players as we appear to be at the bottom of the heap as a destination club with hapless North and that rabble Essendon more likely to be nominated. Not even Amon’s mother could sway him to nominate the Saints but ...

Re: Does Gresham hold 1st round trade value??
Doubt we would get a FRDP, overrated by a lot of supporters, does have much needed pace and certainly has a dip but decision making and disposal are below standard in a side that already has its share of ball butchers

Bytel probably will make it but most likely at the injectors, especially if Jimmy the jabber comes back the syringes will certainly be out

Injuries have taken a toll on him his decision making and skills are good but with never have any pace. Windy and Owens are probably ahead of him and Coffield is potentially a better defender.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Lions Round 22 2022
Think we might have found the tall key defender we need in King certainly never likely to be a good forward can start at CHB next week preferably at Sandy. Sharman to full forward might not get as many shots but will kick more goals

King will cost us this game, others giving their all and him wasting it. Time to play him down back as he 8s a liability up forward

Most of them having a crack with the exception of a couple of faint hearts but really just not in the same class on the field or coaches box.

Always a risk recruiting an interstate youngster especially an indigenous boy. Shame because he looks like a player of the future but if we do lose him hopefully it is a valuable lesson for our recruiting staff.

If NWM wants out and is still contracted for 2023 it’s time to move him on now so we can get some compensation.

Hey Trev how did we go against Essendon and the Dogs or do you think we will go against them in 2023. I’d suggest the pitchforks and torches are rightfully ours.

Re: It’s official Pies have passed us..whose next?
The Pies are a long way past us and there is another eight better teams above us and probably four or five with better lists below us so the future looks grim. We are unlikely to attract any free agents and decent draftees will bail out to return home or go to a side with a chance of playing finals.

Re: Changes v Brisbane
Out Hanners, Jones, Webster, Higgins, Ross
In NWM, Bytel, Campbell, Connolly, Highmore
Play two rucks changing at full forward, King to CHF on his last chance ditto for Hill.
None of this likely to happen but we could do worse

Re: Are we so used to failure…
We are not in a good place as few good players are willing to come to the Saints, we only seem to attract the ones looking for the money without having to work hard. The draft may be our answer but then need to be able to develop and keep them.

Re: Geelong vs Sandringham
Neither of our teams will play finals so time to reward Campbell, Bytel and NWM, also Highmore and Connolly are not far off it. Should be easy to find spots after Saturday’s effort with Hanners injured, Jones substandard, Paton and Webster’s poor decision making and Butler and Higgins offering very ...

Probably most other clubs don’t have a lot of respect for the Saints, I’ve followed them for over 50 years and probably watched lesser teams but we seemed to try a bit harder.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Cats Round 21 2022
Not only are we slow, unskilled we have a lot of players that are poor decision makers, Paton is probably the worst offender but Ross, Webster and Jones are not far behind him. The Tigers look certain to finish 8th and deservedly so as we would have been completely uncompetitive
