Re: For the "In Ross we Trust" brigade
It is not an either/or situation. We need to turn over the list because we lack talent certainly. However, players are going backwards under the new messiah's watch. I would challenge any member of the Ross cult to try to refute that. The way we play lack's any semblance of a coherent game plan for ...

Re: Game for Positivity
Marvel stadium has a roof, so it is not as cold as other grounds. You will be able to find good seats as the ground will be half empty. If you drive to the game you can park underneath and never have to go out into the cold (one of the things I like most about Marvel, though the name is stupid). The...

Re: Chasing Weitering
Yeah f*** Carlton. Split their list up. Are they still using brown paper bags? We won't split their list up it will split ours. They won't match 1.5m because the number is crazy. They will however expect us to give them our first and second round draft picks this year and next year. Carlton can say...

Re: Chasing Weitering
1.5m does not necessarily overly damage the salary cap but it does set a precedent. If I was 2 times All Australians Sinclair or Steele you would be asking where is my 1.5m. Every player on the list would expect more than they are getting now as the club shows they are willing to throw Money around....

Re: saints interested in players already
Money doesn't make us a destination club. If we want to land an LDU or McCluggage, we will need to offer 300 K more per annum than a Geelong or a Collingwood can. The only way to push us up the table is talent acquisition through the draft, and another comfortable mid table finish does not give us a...

I predict it will be between 22K and 25K.
Last week's game was so awful to watch people won't need much of an excuse to miss.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
It is not an either/or position. We lack high-end talent, and skills across the board are substandard. However, that does not mean that the coaching is not also to blame. We have a coach who is completely opposed to attacking, he does not try to win the game. Ross coach's to breakdown the opposition...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Standard Ross Lyon football. It takes until the last quarter to decide to try to win the game rather than to try to purely negate the opposition. Bassett needs to make a hard call. Give him till the end of the season to change his anti-football approach and if he won't or can't then fire him tomorro...

Re: Is it time to play Pou at HBF
Unfortunately, his second year blues started about round 6 in his first year. Sending him back to Sandy is the correct approach. He needs to justify his selection by performing at Sandringham. He started well last year and then was gifted games ahead of players that probably offered more to the side...

Re: Ins and Outs
Well, who are we going to allow to have free reign on the half back line to collect 40 possessions while nobody goes within 30 feet of him?
That will upset Ross's gameplan. It is obviously a key component to it as he allows it every week.

Re: St.Kilda 🆚 Bottom Teams
We play a game that is about stopping the opposition. We do not play an attacking game which means we will not bury anybody. We don't get dragged down to their level we just never go sufficiently offensive to blow a side off the park.

Re: Can we?
Actually, I think it is particularly relevant given that Father/Son selections and preferential ability to trade are the very short cuts to talent acquisition that Geelong have had and to some degree still have that we do not. For us to have acquired the talents of a Jeremy Cameron we would have to ...

Re: Can we?
There are absolutely no short cuts for talent acquisition...it took Scott over 10 years to win his first flag and what was Geelongs secret...the sum of all parts supported by ti.e and stability. Incorrect Chris Scott won his first flag at Geelong in his first year of coaching!!! Admittedly he walke...

Re: Footy Fix: Ross Lyon is the AFL's most boring coach once again - and it's suffocating the Saints' season
We have players missing but when we were playing well at the start of last year Wood was the only one of those missing players who was available. What has changed since then is Ross has implemented his negative game plan. The article is correct we are the most boring side in the competition and that...

Re: Lyon Press Conference Pre-R7 v Port
What’s the purpose and benefit of the tactic of sitting back in a game of keeping’s off? Ross was shielding the players. It wasn't a tactic it's what the players delivered. Rubbish. We defend grass every game. I guess you think the bombing to 30m out is just the players and not a tactic. If as you ...

Re: Forward coach under pressure .
The way we play is strategic, the bombing to the spot 30 m out from goal is a part of the game plan. Anyone who thinks this is not the plan has Ross coloured glasses on. The head coach defines the strategy and the line coaches implement it. You don't have the forward coach defining the forward strat...

Re: Forward coach under pressure .
Is it the forward coach though!? Is this Harves’ structure or is he trying to make what Lyon wants work? Initial thoughts… part of Robert Harvey’s legendary status was achieved by hitting leading forwards on the chest. That’s not what this is. I absolutely agree with this when your game plan is to ...

I didn't go because it was a Thursday night. The group I go with has a couple of 10 year olds you simply can't go on a school night. Both of our home games to this point of the season have been Thursday night not a good way to get the youngsters interested. The kids will finally get to a game in rou...

Re: Jack Steele and centre clearance
Everyone in the midfield is ineffective when the coach wants you to play the man and not the ball. The game plan is to nothing more than try to interrupt the opportunities for the opposition to score. Our style is manic attack on the player like a bunch of 8 year olds playing football. We are like a...

Windhager will never be an A grader but will be a good solid midfielder. Owen's has the most potential upside as he truly could become the midfield bull we have looking for. Pou unfortunately is starting to look like the classic kid who dominated because of his size at junior level. He is not big en...

I didn't go because it was Thursday night and with an hour drive home after the game just makes it too late. I am actually rather pleased I didn't go now as the performance was truly woeful. However, there were some good things that came out of the game. Firstly, maybe people will stop thinking that...

The 20th side will come from an AFL State, so either SA or WA, probably SA where the code is being promoted with the Gather Round I doubt a twentieth team would come from SA. The population of WA is now 1.5 times that of SA and pulling further away all the time. I would wager that, now GWS seems to...
