Re: worst season since 2000
Sorry but I'm calling it now. Going to struggle to win the first 2 games with injuries and suspension taking their toll. Its a long road after that. Would love to be wrong but at least I am prepared for the worst. Hopefully we can get another 15-20+ games this year into the likes of Webster, newnes...

Re: Saints members shafted: replacement home game at G
Stuff them. Can't complain about not being financially strong, fixturing and all and decide not to attend one of the best stadiums in the world. I agree completely re the G, but I would have preferred to see us play the Hawks there in Round 7, instead of the Tigers yet again! At least the Hawks wou...

I think we will win about 6 games and finish 15th above the usual cellar dwellers such as GWS, Melbourne and Brisbane.
I don't give a rat's tossbag about what any other team does this year.

oops, I forgot Montagna is out suspended in Round 1.
So Savage is in for him and Curren moves onto the bench as our new tagger to replace Jones.

Great too see so much optimism and forward thinking from fellow sainters. FWIW here is my take: B: Dempster, Delaney, Geary HB: Fisher, Bruce, Gwilt C: Montagna, Hayes, Ray HF: Roberton, Riewoldt, Gilbert F: Milera, Lee, Schneider R: Stanley, Armitage, Steven I: Hickey, Ross, Newnes, Savage E: Longe...

Re: Congrats to the club on making the right appointment
Try to forget about win/loss this season. It shouldn't be about that. And if it is about that for you, I think you'll be disappointed. Your presumption is fallacious. It's not about wins and losses for me in that I want enough wins to finish top 4 or anything like that, but there is one good thing ...

Longer 5 he wore it at Brisbane
Delaney 15 he wore it at North
Savage 21 he wore it at Hawthorn and Saad will have to be delisted unfortunately
Pick 3 26 as we will be recruiting a classy midfielder to replace Dal Santo eventually
Bruce 27 to replace Blake like for like
Pick 18 36
Pick 19 39

Actually, I've got a feeling it will be the twilight Richmond Game at the G again in round 22 to split up our run of three away games to end the season instead.

Member's Compensation Home Game
Any news out there on which game we will get as compensation for the Wellington game versus Brisbane? I'm actually considering heading over there this year anyway to make a long weekend of it and do a bit of sightseeing. Although I wouldn't mind going to see us play Hawthorn at the G in one of our r...

Re: Scott Watters sacked: Official SS reaction thread
I support the club in making this move now, prior to training beginning next week, but I worry that we don't have a ready made replacement for Watters as coach. Someone suggested Robert Harvey on SEN, but now is not the time for him to debut as the main man, we need an experienced hand at the helm t...

Re: St Kilda 2014 Fixture
I can see why they didn't give Watters a contract extension. Minimum performance expectation should be 4 wins from the first 9, and possibly 5. IMO we really should be 5-5 after 10 and if we're not (barring catastrophic injury) then SW will have had his time. As harsh as that sounds. First 10 round...

Re: Saints In NZ for 5 years
Thanks for the heads up, since we have to play a different team each year, I think we need to play teams that we can compete against each year, which means that we need to avoid playing against top 4 teams for the next couple of years to maintain interest in the games. Therefore, the lions will suit...

No doubt Plympton has some great financial nous, given his long term ass our pres back in the 90s, but his footy nous is almost non-existent, given his appointment of Timmy Watson as our new messiah in 2000!

Re: Saints In NZ for 5 years
I think the idea of an annual game in Wellington on ANZAC Day is a great initiative by our club, but dare I say it, we need to take a lead from the pies and bombers by playing the same team each year in order to build up the rivalry and tradition. Although we have been drawn to play different inters...

I can't believe older sainters have missed one of our B & F winners from the lean years during the early 80s, Peter Kiel!
