Re: Gearbox signs on until end of 2019

Good honest player. Glad we'll have an old head in the side and backline for another 2 seasons. We need it.

Absolute steal and fantastic recruiting call to gain him very late in a "rookie draft."

I'm 50/50 still. Why do some not rate him?
He does come across as a be a bit flakey and inconsistent but his good is very good.

Re: Op Keep Mav Weller

Players play injured all the time without supporters knowing about it (or the full extent). Armo last year, Jacky-boy and Mav this year, Robbo a few years ago. And it affects their performance. Coaches still play them because they're often still better than the next player down the line. Mav's no d...

Steve Motlop

A chance? 50/50 if he would be a good fit for Saints in 2018.
Geelong put him up for trade last year and is a restricted FA. No contract in place.

Re: Op Keep Mav Weller

Like Mav you might need to realign your body to the 7 chakras.

Mav had an ordinary year this year. But he is a role player in the team as a full time HF. Its quite obvious.
Hopefully he's over the 2017 injury for the start of 2018.

Re: The "Meltdown Phenomenon"

Just a suggestion. Anyone can invest as much or as little into the Saints as you like in life. Its still just a sport. Not life or death stuff in our life cycles. I'll always enjoy following the Saints win or lose. Top or bottom of the ladder until I can't see or hear properly in a retirement village.

Sounds pretty final to me mate!
Yes it is. The Saints have nearly killed me over the long years. Maybe a merger will save us all.

Re: What's happened to Jack Steven?

Punctured lung in Rd 2 floored him. Bad injury to get in any sport, especially AFL. He's probably been playing injured all year. One of those injuries that effects a player 10 or 15% but its not enough to stop playing. Maybe Jack refused to rest also as it wouldn't achieve anything. Apparantly Dal S...

WS I Support ALL of my players and unlike some on here believe that on their day they can beat anyone. Like I said Mav is having a down period and tries his guts out. He will get out of ihis form slump and i hope its soon but FORTIUS QUO FIDELIS. I dont normally respond to the player put downs on h...

Re: At what point do you cease supporting, and start resenti

Something will click with the team next year at some stage or hopefully it starts at the beginning of next year. It may even occur in 2019. I think we're in a similar kind of position and it reminds of when Ross Lyon was in his 2nd year back in 2008. We were treading water, destined to be a good ord...

Geez...when you look at it. These boys are all still quite young and really haven't played alot of footy. Plenty of upside in this area. They will all get better.

Re: Composure

Should the Saints go for an older bloke next year in his late 20's like a J. Lewis type?
Everyone else seems to be doing it.
I'm convinced that N. Brown with his expierence and leadership has helped our backline alot this year in organising and making it gel better every game.

Re: Op Keep Mav Weller

Are you privy to information regarding this then? Its clear they want him playing as a hf full time but is there more to his role each week? I have no idea what it is or if it exists as not a coach at Seaford. If he has an ordinary year next year he may be in trouble. If someone takes his place in t...

Re: At what point do you cease supporting, and start resenti

Talking with a mate and Carlton fan about this last year. We pretty much agreed that the Bulldogs winning the flag was deserved but still out of the blue. Possibly the last of its kind for a long time. He even made the point that the Saints and Blues more than likely won't win a flag in the next 50 ...

Both good posts.

Truth is that Richo and co may want him playing a certain
role within the team. We aren't privy to that of course. His injury hasn't helped.

Op Keep Mav Weller

Is he contracted for next year and 2019? He will remain a Saint so people need to deal with it if you're a hater. Something wasn't and still isn't right with his body. Pretty sure his early ankle injury has played havoc with his form and fitness. To compete week in and week out in the elite AFL syst...

Re: Nice comeback saints..

Agreed. I believe the majority of fans wrote us off at 40 points down I think it was. Don't blame anyone. I also thought we would fall away like we have in similar games. Looking back now. If we hadn't have stuffed up the Port and Essendon games recently we wouldn't be season over. Season of missed ...

You just answered a question with a question to start off. Must have hit a nerve by the looks of it by your personal attacks on someone you don't even know. The abuse of coaches and players is and was disgusting by some people on this site. That's not critical analysis and thinking. Its just being p...
