Re: Training reports?

That's why I'm keen to know. Think Cordy as second tall def has a place with Wilkie/Battle playing interceptors. Cordy can spend time on the bench/forward. Side like Cordy Wilkie Stocker Wang Howard Battle I think we are already too tall for the GWS forward line. Riccardi, Daniels, Greene. Need mat...

Training reports?

Anyone been to training recently?

Have our injured blokes done the work to come straight back in or will they need match time in the VFL?

Thinking of Howard this week.

Re: Ugly football

At times our game was horrendous viewing (first half)

At others it was some of the most watchable footy this year (second half)

Re: Side vs GWS

Interesting that Ross said in the post match something to the effect of “Ro was exhausted. We have Campbell who will probably come in at some point”. Maybe not this week, but it looks like maybe we’ll give Marshall a chop out this year Could see a world where Campbell comes in for a Hammer and ruck...

Re: Side vs GWS

Should add I would prefer Hammer out, Windy in, Hastie to the wing rotation. Jones to sub. Something like the below. Stocker. Wilkie. Cordy Milera. Battle. Sinclair Marshall. Steele. Ross. Windy. Byrnes. Wilson. Hill. Membrey. Butler Higgins. King. Sharman. Int: Pou. Owens. Bonner. Hastie. Sub: Jones

Re: An early season test for our coaches

Byrnes does a lot of unrewarded running which is important to the team Agree re Jones. Gives me Mav Weller almost lunging vibes. Butler deserves what he has got and will get better and better. Agree re forward line. I think the side can only really carry one of Hammer or Sharman in an ideal world. I...

Side vs GWS

Who goes out for Windhager? Possible candidates Hastie: think this is the most likely unless they intend to give him a full run on the wing. Hammer: If the above is desired they could shift Sharman back forward and Hammer to the twos. Hammer does protect Owens from ruck contests however. Jones: low ...

Re: Match Thread vs Richmond

My take away was King was very average. At HT he was heading for Sandy next week. You’re not serious surely. Yes, against a second or third string defence he should have dominated. Ended up being a good small forward in Q3. But not a key forwards arsehole this week. I honestly would love to see us ...

Yep…….slow
Very obvious today.

Wasn't last year.

Probably adjusting to the bulk he has added/sore.

Re: Match Thread vs Richmond

Great effort need to bank these wins while we are missing so many best 22 missing. Agree with this. Let's not forget Richmond just beat Sydney, the ground suited their game and were playing basically anyone who is fit. Geelong were just better than us (at home) but we pushed them. Round 2 we beat t...

Re: Isaac Keeler

I thought we recruited Keeler to be developed as a future Paddy Ryder type. That made sense, in that Isaac was physically similar to Paddy, was athletic like Paddy, and was exceptional below his knees for such a tall man, just like Paddy. All good so far. Isaac shows plenty of promise as a tap ruck...

Re: Owens

Multiple people have offered reasons.

You choose to (imo) overstate his capability as a midfielder and ignore those other perspectives- they're not unknown just unheard it would seem.

Might get your wish this week with Windy going out.

Gives him the chance to develop with the play in front of him.

That mark is harder to take as a forward than as a defender.

9-1 centre clearances against in the second half. Needs something Someone not something LIam Henry, Brad Crouch, Mason Wood, Paddy Dow, Hunter Clark Add just one and St Kilda defeats Essendon. Just add all 5 and Max King, Dougal Howard (better than Zaine Cordy) & Jack Hayes (ahead of Cooper Sha...

Yep - hold 6 forwards and make him accountable- that’d be a start!
Not sure many teams consider holding 6 forwards their game style/preferred mode.

Probably hasn't been the case for at least the last 10 years.

If my auntie had wheels she'd be a bike.

Ross said post game we wanted to focus on getting our game right. In a year when we're not contending for a flag I don't mind that.

If we executed effectively we win by 5 goals too.

Re: Owens

It is interesting how people pot Ross through the lense of things like this being an example of him being too rigid/stubborn. I see the non moving of Owens onto the ball as the best thing for his development. I think Owens offers the most potential to the Saints long term as a medium/small forward w...
