We aren't going to be getting any stars for Lonie.
Realistically, I would try and snare McLean. Looked really good a couple of seasons ago when he played in the midfield, but Dunkley took his spot towards the back half of 2018 and McLean has been stuck playing up forward.

Re: AFL Report: Ross one of Saints’ better players?!
The only players I would say were definitively better were Paddy, Dougs, Steele, Hunter and Sincs. 6th best would be .... well, we were really short of options.

Re: About time we stood up for ourselves
Yeah, the umps weren't great (They rarely are) but we only have ourselves to blame for that.
We don't take advantage of our opportunities, and can't stop the opposition once they build up some momentum

Re: Ball Movement
Apart from kicking goals rather than points, scoring is all about creating space in the forward line. It is incredibly frustrating to dominate for long stretches, then concede a goal as the ball rebounds to a wide-open defence. We need to find ways to ensure our forward line is wide open and theirs...

Re: Why I Believe
Let's face it, we are just not very good. If you had told us before the year that we'd be fighting for a finals spot, I think most of us would have been overjoyed. I think that patch of good form a couple of months back has created a false illusion as to the quality in the side. In reality we panic ...

Re: There’s a pigheadedness about Ratten I don’t like
Clearly crying out for another marking tall back like Carlisle... We looked our best with him and Howard in the backline. Also gave us some flexibility with Battle Small Forward’agetton - it has been a dismal strategy all year and we’ve doubled down yet again. Lonie, Butler, Kent and Hind playing t...

Ball Movement
Well, well, well. What a disappointing night. For long periods we controlled the game, but just couldn't put it on the scoreboard. The same familiar story for us long suffering fans. Surely, the players and coaching staff got a front row seat as to how to: a) absorb pressure and b) MOVE THE FRICKEN ...

Just thought I would put it out there to see what saintsationists thought of the idea . Pretty much been a resounding no but thanks for your response positive or negative I would love McGrath. Re: Where are we losing it?
1) Inside 50 entries are horrible, it's long to a contest every time. 2) Midfielders either not being able to find the ball consistently, or blazing away or taking the wrong option when they do get it 3) Forwards not converting when we do manage to carve out a decent chance 4) Every time Melbourne m...

Re: Has Carlisle Given Clavarino His Chance
Not a good look ethically to be targeting injuries, but from a tribunal perspective should be a fine at most. If they're playing, then they're fit - they're fair game. I remember someone doing this to G Train many moons ago as well when he played with a broken finger or hand. No issue as far as I'm...

In terms of legality of the action itself - Ebert's was worse. Made a beeline straight for the player met him head high whilst up in the air.
This crap about the result dictating the suspension is bull.

Re: Interpretation of holding the ball
The umpires chief changes interpretation of the rules from week to week. The players train to behave instinctively. They don't have time to think. I don't even know if they get briefed on the change in interpretation. It is frustrating for players and team supporters but the AFL does not care. They...

Interpretation of holding the ball
Hi everyone, Still furious at the way we capitulated after quarter time - weak effort, but the worst part is it's not unexpected, typical St Kilda. In any case, there were those couple of "holding the ball" decisions played - one against Coffield (I think in the 3rd) and I think one agains...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Dockers Round 6 2020
Can somebody explain to me what the bloody hell is going on? Second time this season we've had the game dead and buried, allowed complacency to creep in and been steamrolled? It's pathetic. No excuse for it. On a side note, some of those holding the balls are putrid. Not rewarding the player going i...

Any chance you could focus on the football season at hand instead of navel gazing about trading and recruitment? Better still, shoot a copy of your resume to Lethers and Finnis. One look at your thoughtful insights would see you snapped up, for sure. The rest of us could then concentrate on actual ...

It was positive that Hannas showed leadership and played out the match and kept trying hard in the last quarter but he's half the player he used to be Hind was very good. The other positive is that White, Coffield, and Clark should be able to cement more opportunities to play together soon Why woul...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Lions Round 14 2019
Foot skills are just atrocious. Clark and Ross prime culprits at the moment. They've scored 5 goals directly from turnovers in the back half. Clark in the 1st Q and Battle in the 2nd are the two that jump out in my mind. Elementary skills. Really unacceptable for AFL level players to be kicking this...
