It's like being in a soap opera, then a sitcom, then a thriller, and then a tearjerker.
It's really a tragic comedy.

Re: Byrnes for Zebs
Unfortunately for him, Wilson and Hastie have arrived at the club. Wilson is a superior runner (even though Byrnes is very good in this area) but with better foot skills and can jump and take a mark. Hastie has great awareness and evasive skills, is a very good kick and is quick. He's also 190cm tal...

Re: Are we going full tilt in 2024????
I'd be tempted that play Collard, too. He's getting low possessions but it's mostly because of the atrocious ball movement and garbage skills and decision making by players up the field. He has more speed and skill than everyone else out there at Sandy. It's perplexing that Owens hasn't been develop...

Re: Chicken or the Egg
Paton. The positive: Hard working lock down small defender who stops his opponents scoring. Has done excellent jobs on players like Charlie Cameron and Toby Greene The negative Can't decide what to do with the ball once he has it in his hands. Takes a mark and then just freezes while team mates run ...

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
I think Collard would develop better by playing in the AFL. The standard the Sandy games.....well...you'd get the same benefit to your development playing local footy

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
I think Collard gets frustrated with players up the ground who make diabolical decisions on a regular basis. Makes it damn hard for him. He runs into spaces and gets ignored because no one actually looks where they're kicking the damn ball. Sandy have the crappiest ball movement in the VFL. A nightm...

Re: wallpaper fallen off - cracks exposed
How many players currently aged 25 and under do you see being regulars making a solid contribution in 2026 and which positions do weed need to fill when considering that group?

Dow and Clark had 35 possessions between them. Jones had 22 but God knows how many hit a target. Not exactly dazzling performances. Byrnes only had 6. He's really struggling to find the ball.

Re: 2025 list
Campbell and Allison the most likely to move on. I'd say Jones looks shaky, too, given that Ross Lyon isn't playing him while he's fit. Heath would likely stay if Campbell leaves, but that would leave us in a more precarious situation, as Heath is not progressing. I can't see it as another cleanout....

Re: Thank you St Kilda
Most of us know that we don't have the elite talent required. It's pretty damn obvious, especially in the midfield. Therefore, we accept that there's a lot of work to do to get into that top 4 in talent and performance. However, there are some with expectations and when those expectations aren't met...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
The fumbling from the start of the game was an indication how things were going to turn out. A lack of assertiveness was there for all to see. That's the killer. We did not look like we had any intention of imposing ourselves in the game. No aggression towards our opponents, no confident attack on t...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Teflon, I agree on Ross and Membrey. They're nearly done. Ross plays one solid game and then follows up with a couple of stinkers. Membrey seems to have lost some zip, but playing in that forward line at the moment would be a misery

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
So many players just didn't look switched on. Flat footed, tentative, waiting for things to happen. No on field leadership. Steele is a good player but fails in that area. The problem being is that he is indecisive with ball in hand, and he's the one who should be leading the way in the style of pla...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Yes Marshall hacked the ball out of stoppages and none of our players upfield thought to play in front of their opponents. I mean...it's not bloody hard to figure out. They know Marshall does it, but they still sit back on their damn heels and let the defenders run on the ball!!!

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Stodgy midfield. It's the same old story. The only player we can count on to win a clearance is Marshall. You see the way Newcombe attacks the clearances with speed, aggression and energy. Our guys are tentative and flat footed. I've said it many times and I'll say it again. We will NEVER be a top 4...

Yep, Iv'e seen opponents run past him and he hasn't done what he should have. He's unlikely to get promoted the senior team unless he improves in that area. The thing is, it's something that can be fixed

Re: Ins and Outs
Batchelor, in his review of last Sunday's Sandringham game, wrote that Schoenmaker needed to work on his physicality. That tells me he's not tackling with enough intent and not being hard enough in the air when contesting. I've seen a few Sandy games and I think that's where he needs to improve. He'...

As for comments about the shape of his body, did you ever see Matthew Lappin play? That skinny Kade Simpson went tokay for 342 games. Chunky Dane Swan went okay, too.

Wow....nice. So, when Robert Harvey was suffering his multiple hamstring strains in the middle of his career, I suppose we should have dumped him. I suppose we should dump Max King, too. And that Liam Henry. Tore his hamstring in his second game. Let's get rid of him. Clearly hadn't prepared himself...

Re: Sandringham V North Melbourne
He doesn't attack contests with the same vigour as some others. He's a lead up forward who is very good at for finding space and timing his leads.
The problem is his intensity
