Plugger never kicked tons for us in 91 or 92

I could've sworn Plugger kicked tons with us in the 91 and 92 home and away seasons. But in today's Age sports section - page four - he wasn't on the list as having done it. Imagine how bad it'll be AFTER the cutbacks.

And he coached a struggling Fitzroy team when it could only get bottom of the barrel types. He was run out of Adelaide. Freo hasn't exactly set the world on fire. He was meant to take M...

I still reckon Harves got a little choked up and turned away at the end of the first or second question, when asked about the reaction to his feats. That was priceless. Here's a man who is as passionate about the club and the game as anyone going around, but who doesn't really show a lot of emotion ...

I have problems - some major - with those mentioned. Kerr/Lovett/Didak all have MAJOR character flaws, which we don't need. I don't care how fast they are or how well they kick. White is past it and I'd rather stay with the devil we know. His strength was his athleticism, and that's going at a rapid...

Drafting from other clubs

I don't like the sound of it much. I think it'd have to be a very special deal to do that. I'm sure I've read that this year's draft will be OK, with a bit of height and talent on offer. It will also be the last one which won't be tainted by Gold Coast and West Sydney. If we're planning on being nea...

You can't imagine a single occasion - in many years - that would motivate the Saints more than this week. Wouldn't just do absolutely everything, every contest, just for Harves? I know I would. And to see all the other players there... you really get a sense of the history and culture of the club, ...

We should take White for the number one draft pick, i.e. they give us their number pick in the draft, and we'll take Jeff White.

For a man who never liked the city lights, it was a strange move to play in Sydney. It's OK if you're a bit player, but there's nowhere to hide if you're a star up there.

Alistair Ford. Darren Flannigan. Actually, Jeff White was a mad Saints supporter as a young bloke. He actually had a Saints poster on his bedroom wall when he first played for Freo! That is a true story! We nearly got him a decade back, but Melbourne breached the salary cap to pinch him from under o...

As much as I hate Adelaide and Carlton, I will always barrack for what's in the Saints' best interests. So if a Crows win gives us a crack at fourth, then go Crows! And as for the person who said losing 97 was part of the charm of the club, I haven't heard crap like that since some idiot in the Vict...

Saints statement re Thomas decision

4 July 2008 The St Kilda Football Club regrets that the position between itself and Grant Thomas, an ex coach of six years' standing, has come to a decision of a Court. Nevertheless, despite attempts to reach a resolution directly, it maintained a different view of the circumstances surrounding his ...

When I was a kid in 1983 we had a silver-coloured tabby cat which we called (at my insistance) Silvio. Anyone under a certain age probably won't get that one.

Really good, interesting posts covering both sides of the coin. I subscribe to the theory that you can have all the skill and ability in the world, but it means little unless you've got the courage, discipline and work ethic to put it into practice. Spider Everitt is a classic example of that. He ma...
