Re: Cold Hard Facts

5 losses under 10 points. Such see-sawing games they were as well. A bit like a kids 800m run where the kid walked the first 700m and Usain Bolted the last 100m to come in 4th. So close to the podium the kid said. If only I started running a bit earlier. We weren't in any of those games and just st...

Re: As much as I loathe them maybe we should throw caution to the wind...

I don't think it's simply about players. Last year was a bit of a honeymoon period for Ross Lyon. The new 'game plan' for players and the new messaging from the new coach was important, but so too was the need to impress and preserve your footy career. It doesn't take much for players to lose faith...

Re: As much as I loathe them maybe we should throw caution to the wind...

I looked at the filth's line up last week. Hardly star studded. Hit by injuries like most of us they elected to play a few newbies through necessity. Sullivan the past 2 weeks Harrison some regular gigs McCrae - been in and out of the side McInnes - ditto Bytel - well he needs no introduction! They...

Re: Are we going full tilt in 2024????

The point is Jones is far better at this stage to both Hastie and Garcia at this stage. I'm sure he is worth 5 points. Agree Curly that Jones could be a better option but based on his AFL games this season, especially his game against Richmond it is clear something is not right with him. He looked ...

Re: Are we going full tilt in 2024????

Selection suggests we aren't. Clearly setting up for a year or two. Selection has mostly been dictated by what has been available If we had more senior players fit throughout the year they would be playing Selection points to a lack of availability rather than we are playing the kids and rebuilding...

Re: King ...out of form or

We have had a fixation on having a full forward….and looking at last nights game Petracca 5 goals……meanwhile we have the messiah who can’t mark or kick straight, walks around with his head looking at the ground not interested…..we could have one of our other forwards having a bash and recruit bigge...

No where near good enough to tie Petracca or Bontempelli boot laces who we missed out on.
BOOM BOOM
Billings was rated top 3 by all.

Again this wasn't an issue in Round 2 when he was one of our best. One of the hardest parts about being a key forward is getting your timing. Missing games impacts that.

Byrnes I agree is not good enough.

Bonner on the other hand is a key part going forward. His kick to Hayes to give him his first goal was elite.

Re: King ...out of form or

Billings is not a midfielder. Was never considered one. We have tended to draft the best tall forward in the draft, or worse stll, even a half forward flanker (Billings was not even a key position forward) and have been happy to overlook obvious midfield talent to get one .... Petracca, Rozee, Butt...

Re: King ...out of form or

Port Adelaide nailed the 2018 draft. They took Connor Rozee at pick 5 and Zac Butters with pick 12 Both have been All Australian and Rozee Is Port Adelaide's captain. St Kilda took Max King at pick 4 and Gold Coast Ben King at pick 6. St Kilda did not learn from the 2014 draft chasing after the all...

Re: The Roar opinion piece

Always excuses. This year it was this, that year it was that. Just for once, no excuses would be nice. Why can’t we draft well. Why can’t we develop. Doesn’t matter who is in charge, nothing changes. From what you hear about Basset, he seems to be trying, but we are going backwards….again. We beat ...

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?

Get the justice system sorted and then pass judgement.

The courts themselves let these people have free reign almost. Get them sorted out support the police an the social workers and the like and then we can pass judgemnt on the decision of a footy club.
