Re: Seb Ross Vs Dan Hannebery

Freebird wrote: Sat 12 Dec 2020 6:18pm Who would you prefer to have the football in their hands?
Averages:
Hannebery - 17.6 disposals, 5.8 contested, 248 metres gained, 3.9 turnovers
Ross - 17.9 disposals, 6.8 contested, 202 metres gained, 3.1 turnovers

So, I'm hoping they handball it to Hill.

Re: Matthew McLeod-Allison

The recruiters must have a special crystal ball and I hope he suceeds, but on the footage I have just seen I would have been looking elsewhere. And yes Im not a recruiter... That's a perfectly reasonable conclusion to come to after taking the time to watch the kid play. I, at least, appreciate you ...

Re: Seb Ross Vs Dan Hannebery

I'm hopeful that adding Crouch will free up Seb to do less grunt work (which he's not really that great at) to do more run and carry. Hopefully, with more of an outside role, he'll hit more targets and silence some of the critics here. I definitely think he's overcriticised. If you think Seb's a but...

Re: Draft night

Any chance anyone has some footage of Allison playing? The official website ran about 20 seconds of footage during their draft coverage, which you can find in this tweet from the Unpluggered Podcast . If you're really keen, all the NAB League games from 2019 are on youtube. Allison is listed as hav...

Re: Draft night

We have traded our 4th round next year for pick 43 with Hawthorn. I think. Seems a good deal, so why would Hawks do it? It's 54 and a 4th for 43, I think. That makes more sense. It seemed to, but Hawthorn didn't use the pick. So, in the end, it was pick 43 (which became 45) for a future 4th. Seems ...

Re: Pass at draft

Does this mean we could have as many as three picks in a potential 2021 mid-season draft? That would seem to be a decent strategy. The NAB League is now U19s and there are going to be a lot of unlucky kids who might have otherwise impressed had a 2020 season gone ahead as planned. These kids are now...

Re: Draft night

not a fan of this 5 minutes per pick The Giants took 5 minutes, bid on McInnes, took another 5 minutes, traded the pick to Collingwood, who have bid on Blake Coleman. This pick is never going to happen. EDIT: For future historians, after Brisbane matched the bid, Collingwood then traded the pick to...

AFL Photos site has some photos from training, if you're into that sort of thing. Higgins wearing a number 30 jumper, but drinking out of a bottle with 22 on it, just to keep us guessing. Bytel has enormous arms; Alabakis is just enormous. King had something he needed to do at 1:45 - presumably call...

Re: Mock Draft

There was this bloke called McEvoy we picked up in the top 10, in desperation of recruiting a ruckman, bypassing the opportunity to pick up a highly regarded kid called Dangerfield. That worked out well for us. Danger was a barely-eligible 17-year old who hadn't made the U18 AA team. He wasn't that...

Clinton Jones wasn't available.

For the record, I like Savage as a player a lot more than I like kicking efficiency as a stat.

Re: I believe the delisting of Savage is a mistake.

By the way, if you kick the ball to contests (or bombing it away), you're not going to end up with 83% DE - it'd be closer to 50/50 (logically)? A long kick to a 50/50 contest is registered as effective. Retention only matters on short-to-medium kicks. If you spend all day bombing it to 50/50 conte...

Re: Joyce and Clavarino to rookie list

Given the way this went down, it would seem to suggest that we didn't think we could smuggle Clavarino through the drafts. I choose to see that as a glimmer of hope. I'm less optimistic about Joyce's chances. This also makes it seem less likely we'll re-rookie some of our other delistees - although,...

Re: Mock Draft

<t>Personally, I would never draft another ruck early in the draft again. They take forever to develop and the ones taken early don't have a particularly good strike rate. Most teams play one ruck these days, so there's usually at least a few disgruntled rucks available for trade every trade period ...

Re: Re-rookied players

Judging by that article, I'd expect the types that have already been delisted to be eligible, rather than someone like Clavarino. I could definitely have that wrong, but it would seem like a way to avoid experienced players sitting through the draft following the DFA period(s). I'm not sure why you'...

Whom do I trim? Potentially unpopular opinion - I'd drop Carlisle from that team. I'd much prefer to play Battle, either in defence or dropping back from the wing. Much as I wanted Clark in the middle, I don't think it's happening this year with Crouch coming in. I think we'll start Crouch/Ross/Ste...

Clav's out of contract now. He'll be doing well to be on a list at all next year after zero games in three years, especially with list reductions coming.
