Was a badly needed conversion. How often do our midfielders choke in front of goal, either on the run or from a set shot. Their midfielders on the other hand have hurt us so far on the scoreboard tonight.Moorabbin Saints wrote:Lenny doesn't make the distance, ball in. Nothing from it.
3/4 time, Port by 20.

Mad saint guy, Harvs is a legend who has bugger all left in his tank now. Ball WAS a quality midfielder and I wouldn't be putting a lot of praise on Montagna. His hard ball gets are almost as bad as Dal Santo's. When you look at our midfield without rose coloured glasses (and you can include X Clark...

The game is still young but tonight will reveal all about the quality of players we really have. The fact that they have had so little heart of late when the going gets tough is what is so hard to swallow. You can still have heart and toughness regardless of skill level and to date very, very few of...

Of course he should be played 'in the guts'. That way he can learn very quickly what it requires in work rate and effort to take the next step in his career because right now, he is not doing enough given the natural ball talent he has been blessed with. Early in his career he was being compared to ...

Dud, check the year on the tape you're watching. It is supposed to read Round 4 2008. I am NOT a Dal basher, but I can open both eyes. Dal needs to harden up and learn to shake a tag, as elite players can do. Ling flogged him today, because Ling IS an elite level player. Dal is a level below him, t...

i can't understand some of what i'm reading Dal has never been a huge ball winner, and he had 18 possesions (i can't wait to see the breakdown of these regarding clearences and contested possessions) and 7 tackles against the best tagger in the league, and people are saying he should be dropped?!!?...

also, him taking the best tagger in the league alowed players such as Lenny, Ball and Joey to all get 25 plus possessions they put Ling on him because they know how much of a threat Dal is Were you at the game today? Ling didn't need to do anything to stop him! Dal just strolled around the ground w...

I also am surprised at his efforts over the full course of a game. My point in an earlier post of his limited progression as a player since 2004 is unwavered. Even GT last year regularly made an issue about his inability to shake off a tag and that he needed to do this to take the next step. Why can...

I'm with the Dud. Dal was much better this week and his 3rd quarter in particular he really started busting a gut and running through packs. One of our better players, remembering Ling was shadowing him for most of the game. As I said in another thread, the fact Ling had overshadowed him today, sim...

I was sitting with a group of people that were riping into dal before he had done anything wrong and continued to do it. So i started watching dal's game more intently and i thought he played a fairly good game, just not everyone saw that because of him not winning possestions, but like what lltw s...

I really noticed today that Gehrig, Max and Harvs have played one year too many. maybe...maybe not.......it was banger who set us up in the first quarter,.,,,we were killing them until he got injured...... Isn't it sad though that we mainly rely on a 37 year old to be our gut-running midfielder? :r...

Luke Ball doesn't make the distance from 35m on the run but was off target anyway :( Yeah, couldn't get a more obvious example of our pathetic goalking ability. As I said, the number of quality goalkickers in the team either on the run or from a set shot, you can count on one finger. That's ...

Re: Kicking at Goal
Our kicking at goal has been awful. Had we been able to kick straight we would still be a chance. Do players not practice enough or....... It is because you can count the players that are actually good kicks at goal on one finger and that also goes for players in the side capable on kicking a goal ...

It seems that our midfield either can't get to the fall of the ball first or is being coached to be second to the ball. In either case this explains the high tackle count but also shows why the Doggies were able to cut us up. With competitive rucks in Gardiner and King we have to get the pill first...
