Maybe it was the flu

Just as we should never get too carried away with one win, one loss does not make a season either. Without doubt, the loss exposed some weaknesses, especially in relation to the opposition. Fortunately, there is only one other team in the AFL which has similar strengths to match the Dogs. Unfortunat...

Round 23 - if the AFL has their way. We sure miss him.

Got 7 weeks in Round 20, so should be back Round 6.

Re: Umpiring, Rules Committee and the AFL destroying the gam

WHY I ask, have recent grand finals been umpired in a totally different way to the rest of the season? They haven't. What happens is that the best umpires always umpire that way, but there are few of them, some times as few as three! The classic case is Brett Allen, who unfortunately retired withou...

They were too good - simple as that.

The Dogs are close to the Cats at the moment, better in speed but not as good in defence. Their foot skills are on a par. The Dogs appear to have bulked up to enable them to break make tackles and successfully lay others. I note that these two teams do not meet until round 16, after we play the Dogs...

All things are relative - Footscray is very fast and hardly missed a target at all with their field kicking - definite improvement for them on last year. Our blokes looked they had the flu after quarter time. Hill looks some player. Goddard got through the game so that's one good thing. Kosi did som...

Oh When the Saints wrote: Might chuck a bit on ... I'll be happy if we win and get something out of it if we lose ....

'Classic' Saints v Bulldogs Photo

Went to the Dome website to check details and a still photo from a past Saints V Bulldogs game popped up. Baldock V Whitten? No. Winmar V Hawkins? No. Harvey V West? No. It was - wait for it - Ackland V Bandy (at least I think it's Bandy), from a game in 2005 which was at the MCG! What a ruck contes...

Seven straight wins - if you include the NAB Cup. We are the only team not to have lost a game in the last seven months! How about that for positive spin.

problem 1. will take a few weeks if not months to get back into the swing of things (blake, joel smith, nathan brown amongst others have taken years to recover from injury) You mean our Blake? Can't remember when he did his knee. Some mongrel kneed him in the back a few years ago, R3 2004, (a Carlt...

Too harsh, even if he does play for Carlton.

Why can't we play play the Blues four times this year? And Melbourne. And Richmond. It's only fair!

He's a very skilled player - but, for a footballer (as opposed to supporter like me) - a bit porky at the moment. He'll need to watch himself when he stops playing. So much for discipline at the Blues. Gee, what a difference 20 years makes - Saints v Blues wise.

The answer is contained in your post - NAB Cup. And some people, being kindly disposed, like to "talk up" young players. Trouble is, it doesn't make them any better - that's in their hands.

It's indefensible! He should have marked it. But when did Sam Gilbert ever take a pack mark? He is not as skillful. If BJ plays, and I doubt very much that he will, then Sam will make way. I would hope RL can assemble the most able group (Maguire is the other one to come back in) and see whether it ...

More than one game I think. He is the one player at Geelong I fear most. Every time he gets the ball it seems to end in a goal whether it's him kicking it or a team mate. I'm not one to wish opposition players ill, but a slight hammy this week would be nice.
