Re: Lessons to be learned
Having said that, how good are our youngsters? Some good recruiting for mids and backs (at the moment) and we will be right back up there. C'ARN the SAINTS. A new era (ie: WINNING premiership flags) is upon us. Love our guys... ..ok...maybe take it down a peg. Like your enthusiasm but the temptatio...

Re: Round 15 Team v Dockers
Watters is going to be trying out players to see who upto it in AFL and try different things. I don' think the team will reflect the "best" 22 or the most in form young players . From what I've heard he's good with talking to players on the list about where they are at in his eyes.

Re: A few thoughts after the Richmond game
The catch-22 is when you only have 2 good clearance players in Steven and Armo then its easy for a good team to focus on them and shut down the engine room. Dal doesn't haven't the inside players to get the ball to him anymore. Montagna doesn't seem to have the same pace anymore to be the deadly win...

Riewoldt wasn't running much last week (compared to his normal marathon). Spent time lurking around the halfback line. Pavlich, Sandilands, Barlow, Mundy. Holy s***. Go Lenny.

Emma Quayles article from The Age If Boyd is really up for grabs, who will buy? At a function on Monday, Matthew Lloyd told a group of teenage footballers how he ended up an Essendon player. He remembered playing for the Western Jets in 1994, thinking he was too young to be drafted, when the Bomber...

Re: Rudd for next Saints president?
Rudd elected president of St Kilda in a landslide. Appoints himself head of the selection committee, runs training, operates the interchange ("I will decide which players come onto the ground and circumstances in which they come"), is the waterboy on gameday (players limited to 2 sips of t...

Re: Last quarter fade outs
It perhaps reflects that the players ARE genuinely putting in for 3 quarters and get knackered. Compare that with Melbourne who often seem to have heaps left in junk time. When they can sustain it for the whole game we'll start to be competitive.

What game plan do you think Watters is developing
Anyone managed to get much of a handle on it so far?. Obviously quite Malthouseish in going wide, hugging the boundary line. One poster mentioned a lot of switching of play in the back. Gwilt seems to get used a lot for this. Will need good kickers if that's the case going forward (different to Lyon...

Re: SAINTS can’t afford to keep WATTERS!
Really sick of hearing sack the coach crap after losing games. Tell me one team full of duds that had a great coach that one a flag just 1 will do. There isn't one. You have to have the players end of story. Put Omeara Wingard Wines Dangerfield Carlisle Joe Daniher in with current group of players ...

Re: Jones deserves credit
He was good tonight I'll grant him. Never question his work ethic and guts. But the reality is him playing means a young player misses out on a games experience. I know its a balancing act between being competitive and blooding young players and Watters may feel he needs Jones bigger experienced bo...

Re: Eight years of pain coming ...
Recruiting is not the be all and end all of success. That's a trap Melbourne fell into - load up on top rated youngsters in the draft, wait three years and hey presto a finals team. Swans and Geelong have developed an incredibly strong club culture and development stream that sets an incredibly high...

Re: Pattern to our losses
It seems there is a pretty set pattern to our losses now. We are usually competitive for 3/4 of a game but there is always a 30 minute period at some stage of a game (start, middle or end) we we get trounced and the other side kicks 6 or 7 unanswered goals. It always involves something like 10-0 in...

Re: Rhys Stanely
The future of footy is versatility. Stanley has great potential as an all-rounder swingman. Was starting to get the hang of being an AFL forward and then needed as a backman. Was totally s*** when first started but you could see the improvement in positioning, one-on-one, rebounding out of defense e...

5 Stevens - consistent and gutsy 4 Armo - lifted when it looked like it might get really ugly 3 Rooey - didn't seem to run as much, might be injured (more injured than usual) 2 Dennis lane - put it through the big sticks when he had too, that's refreshing 1 Dal Santo - seemed to get a lot of it but ...

Re: Warning: shallow
It sounds simple on paper - get more mids rotating through. But its tough yakka there in the clinches, big bodies doing tough dirty work in and under. If any player could do it then Geelong, Swans, Hawthorn wouldn't be streets ahead. Its about seeing who can actually be effective on the ball. Watter...

Re: SAINTS can’t afford to keep WATTERS!
Why be sensitive to questioning if Watters is delivering? Is it really all the teams fault? I think it is fair to question Watters coaching. Have we got the right man is a question that will always be lurking in our heads until he gets us a Premiership. To be honest I find it hard to identify so fa...

Re: Watters is a very poor coach!
I've always thought the best coaches have a real fatherly vibe going on with their players. They are strict but have a real connection with their players to help them grow into their potential and develop confidence in themselves so they can be leaders on the field. I never got that vibe with Lyon. ...

So just how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go? According to google there never WAS a “Saint Kilda”. So our famous football club was named after a fictional patron saint? Why? For what purpose? Either there is a massive cover up going on to hide an inconvenient and damaging truth or ...

I've been using the internet to do a little research and this thing is bigger than we ever thought. Jeff Geischen is the umpires director. As it turns out the Geischen family are founding members of the free masons in Australia. Hence why under Gieschen the number of "frees" paid has skyro...

Re: Benefits of Tap Ruckman !
What Ive noticed is that Macca really drops off in last quarters. I think he works so hard getting around the ground, dropping back in defense that he is just running out of petrol and his ruck work really deteriorates. You imagine being such a big unit and trying to jump and tap when you are exhaus...
