Re: best 22 round 1

A few assumptions regarding how pre season training and games go but here is my guess: B: Geary , Carlisle, Webster HB: Savage, Howard,Wilkie C : Hill, Ross, Jones HF: Gresham, Membry, Billings F: Lonie, King, Clark Foll: Marshall, Steele, Hannebery Int: Ryder, Dunstan, Coffield, Sinclair Emerg: Ba...

Re: Let's Be Honest

I was looking forward to 2020 because we would be getting players back with the addition of King and Bytel, plus an early draft pick. Thought we might lose Steven but never thought for one moment that Bruce and Acres would be shown the door. Losing them will only be partly offset by the guys recrui...

Re: Dan Butler highlights

I think the reasoning is that it would enable players like Long and Parker more midfield time. We need more depth and difference in the mid and these two could provide that. Under the right coach, Ben Long could be one very special footballer I think. He and Parker could explode through the middle ...

Re: No.1

I have a question. How did we go from becoming a so called basket case to a “destination club” ? Would love to here your views. Getting things 'right' off the field has always been the (best) first move to success. An all too rare situation for us I'm afraid  How hard can it really be? The Haw...

Re: Acres

I’m not thrilled about the trade but how is his trade value worth pick 10-12 objectively? By that logic nothing can ever be objective except scientifically-agreed, measurable units - ideally co-signed by peer-review (which they themselves are subject to bias). What makes this assessment objective? ...

Re: I am disgusted!

Well, this turned a bit nasty I thought he wanted 'out' for similar reasons that the doggies player retired early? and why they then moved the package to the druggies. Which, is the same reason I thought another player (at the Saints) was being talked about for a move (which toned down a bit recentl...

Nice looking backline taking shape Dougs at FB, Carlisle at CHB 3rd tall options Wilkie, Battle, Austin, and maybe Roberton Small/Mid sized options in Geary, Webster, Savage, Coffield, Paton Could be something or could be nothing wild cards are Marsh and Joyce Battle is the interesting one. Re: Acres

Uuurgh - F***. Tim Gossage is now reporting that Acres has agreed to a 3 yr deal at Freo as part of the Hill deal. 10 + future 2nd + future 4th + 58 + Acres. Without Acres - it feels about right; with Acres it feels overs. Takes a bit of tarnish off Brad coming to St K now IMHO Even without Acres i...

Re: Acres

Ryder deliberately goes too far back. Takes Longer back with him, Longer more intent on Ryder is too slow to react as Ryder runs in fast. Ryder achieves separation. Ross was marking Gray at the ball in, but he was ball watching and lets Gray get separation. Dunstan was ball watching, did not block ...

Re: Acres

Another Ian Stewart decision. But we keep Steele, Ross and Dunstan to power our centre square and our mid field. None of Steele, Ross or Dunstan have creativity - and they are all one sided players with ordinary ball skills both by hand and foot including length of disposal by both hand and foot. T...

Re: Acres

It does seem a pity, anyhoo we move on... FWIW, I don't see them playing him in the middle either, unless it's on a wing. They have already got a very good large bodied mid (well actually the best), so Blake plays similar to where he has been here. I would like to see him develop as a mid, although ...

Re: Acres

You must have missed the 2010 GF? In fact you must have missed the entire 2009/2010 seasons Top Ten player I the AFL in both those seasons with a combined tally of nearly 1400 possessions. Acres doesn’t get a run in the midfield because he isn’t up to it, he’s had 6 years in the system and is still...

Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(

I wouldn't get too worked up about receiving Pick 58 for Jack Steven. Fact is that he has had major mental health issues that have prevented him from playing a lot of games this year, and gauged on the games he played when he did come back in he did not look to be at peak fitness. Having requested ...

Re: Assuming We Do All The Trades..Will We Be Better?

With Jack Steven and Dan Hannebery in the team we would have won at least another 1 to 2 more games, (the Freo game in Freo for example we pulled up short in the midfield). you could probably mount a strong argument too that Lonie's loss hurt us as much as any other, throw him in and we probably be...

Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(

I'm not that fussed to be honest. We have to have (and show) some faith in our club sometimes. I sat and listened to Clarko on GF day saying sometimes you just have to suck-it-up with drafting/trading

It's what they do with the picks that really counts. So far I'm impressed :)

So Lovett was a bad boy. Eventually found not guilty I might add. Unlike Milne who was forced to plead guilty to stop the personal financial drain of a media vendetta to get some police. Everyone knows Dustin Martin comes from a bad family and is a total low life. We would love him if he was a St K...

We can't keep Bruce unless we are prepared to match the Bulldogs offer, which it doesn't appear we're likely to do, hence he’s gone and there's nothing that can be done about it as that's just they way it is. Bruce is contracted and he stays if the trade doesn't suit us. Bruce will be at the doggie...

As though he’d want to go there and get bullied like Tom Boyd did. But is the Tom Boyd bully still there? Re: Hill to Geelong?

I was just pointing out that Ross’ disposal efficiency is higher than Hill’s. 2019: Hill 67%. Ross 73% Career: Hill 71% Ross 73% I think it is also important to note that Champion data consider any kick over 45 meters to be effective. Maybe I’m off my rocker, but these numbers say Ross hits his tar...

Re: TRADE: Saints picks 6 & 59 for Giants 12 & 18

Anyone who thinks Dunstan is more important to the team than Ross Must be smoking something funny The problem though is all of Ross, Dunstan and Steele in the same team. I don't know how often Hill plays directly at a centre bounce? but he would have to take Ross' position on the ground, wouldn't h...
