Re: A well coached team

Last 2 minutes. And this week suddenly no Roo, Joey, Gilbert... Ignore their playing ability, but it is known that all are on field leaders that general the players. FWIW, we may not have been within 5 goals of Port if those 3 were in the team though. We can't play all 3 of them. I think last night...

Re: A well coached team

We are a very sloppy team and have been all year, even in all of our good wins this year we have been sloppy. Sloppy with all aspects of our game including our skills and decision making. We are definitely not a well drilled unit. Agreed. I've said it before, that our scores almost seem to come by ...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017

Incredible effort to get back in that in the last quarter. Ports 2nd last goal was very unlucky for us. Took some absolute brilliance in the end from 2 incredible players. 22 blokes out there showed significantly more heart for the saints than quite a few ordinary "supporters" on here. +1...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017

Who the hell was marking Gray in that last play?? I think it was Seb at that instance Hang your heads in shame Billings and Ross. Ross was marking him and Billings stood there and watched him run away. Shameful. Should never wear a Saints jumper - again. I just checked too. It was Billings who went...

No pure desperation. They put it all out there and were first at the drop of the ball and it paid off.

Agree 100%. I reckon this is our biggest problem. Our players are genuinely stupid.

Can't argue with that either because what other reason for such ugly crap footy in many games this year.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017

Sometimes boys get ahead of themselves... boys like Billings. "Yeah but he's a lovely young man..." I hear all you grandmothers saying. You wouldn't believe the number of 'lovely young men' we've had through this Club in the last 25 years! None of them can play football - that's their ONL...

Re: Billings!

If people want Billings to be a Cripps type they will be disappointed on a regular basis. I know some Carlton supporters who wish Cripps could be more Billings like, every time he butchers the pill. He's had a good year, get off his effing back. Least of our problems. This place is getting more and...

Re: Billings!

Like I said, compare Billings' attack on the ball to Heeney's last night. Both the same height and I think Heeney is younger. I know who I prefer. Until we recruit these types or dare I say develop, the club will not be close to being a contender. Last night was insipid and Billings again got a lot ...

Re: Our Moneyball type rebuild has failed

A destination for players like the ones described by SR. "Almost" types. I still believe our recruiting and development coaches have a lot to answer for. When you look at our recruiting under Elshaug, it has been below average at best. Numerous picks that we let good players go for have b...

Re: Billings!

Watching Heeney in comparison tonight, well it clearly shows how much of a soft, outside player Billings is. Physically he still has a kid's body. Lacks hardness and gets brushed off the ball too easy on the few occasions he tries to win a contested ball. Patrick Cripps is miles ahead of him too fro...

The Bombers fans gave it to him all game but he kept presenting and was one of the few Saints that could be happy with their performance Carlisle and Roberton were probably our only two decent players last night. Tonight is a reaffirmation of where the team is really at, when the opposition come to play. Reminds me of the Swans game and how they buried us after stringing a few wins.
