Re: Worst possible start to the season we were all fearing...
I disagree that our season is over or that it is time to start panicking. We are unlikely to win against the pies but we will not get flogged. It will be a 3 to 4 goal loss so all the Ross Acolytes can say but we have injuries, we played the best team in the comp and we would have beaten them at Ma...

Re: Phillipou
We're about building a Premiership List. So we need to get 50 plus games into Phillipou (and Owens, Windhager etc) as quickly as possible. There is no utility in Phillipou playing VFL. He doesn’t have to be in the best 5 each week for our team, but he does need to show something every week. Apart f...

Re: Phillipou
We lost a game of footy and some people think the finger needs to be pointed at Mattaes instead of the senior players I'd be starting threads on Crouch, Hill and Mason Wood before people criticise a 2nd year player. Spot on. Can you imagine the uproar from the same posters if our top ten draft pick...

Re: Worst possible start to the season we were all fearing...
There is a bit more balanced view of this: Pros: No injuries, we are fitter and more available next week. Sincs to come back in, Crouch and Windy better for the run. Plenty of footage to watch and learn from Cons: Disagree that Geelong are good. That game was one of the worst of the weekend. If we ...

Re: Crab watch
Ross has cut his nose of to spite his face many times This is just another example JB proved today - as he did on numerous occasions with STK he is a quality AFL HF Today he’ll get Brownlow votes, as he did a number of times before. HFs that average 20ppg and a goal are pretty rare Put it this way ...

Re: Crab watch
Billings has indeed been quite good. It's been enlightening watching him play for another team. His big drawbacks are that he doesn't make any sort of a physical impact on the game with either strength or speed and, while his skill levels are quite good, he doesn't have anything in his bag of trick...

Re: Crab watch
To all the Billings haters go and have a look at his stats today. As Vortex would say, we need a bigger sample size before we start eating that humble pie. I did note that he didn't impact the scoreboard and MB stated that whilst he played well he wasn't exactly doing anything extraordinary. ...

Re: Phillipou
He needs waaay more aggression at the contest. Way more. Atm he's playing like a talented kid, except the problem is he's playing against hardened men and he STILL looks like he doesn't like that. He absolutely needs to go back and play against men in the VFL where the ball moves a bit slower and he...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
NWM should be on a wing. He is too easily moved off the ball in a backline contest. Bonner looks OK - can take a mark and is a very good kick. His passes were low and hard. But he too is light for a backman. Our back six seem skinny compared to the top sides. Howard only makes that worse, and he fu...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
Surprised with the high rating for Steele, I think it may have something to do with being the best of a piss-poor midfield. If that was a 9/10 tonight, then 2 years ago he would have been pulling out 15/10 every second week. I think we forget how good he was when he was nearly winning Brownlows. Yo...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
Fair enough Scollop. You’re entitled to your opinion. I’m hoping this thread doesn’t become about that comment.
My main point is that I’m prepared to concede after watching the game once that I’ve rated NWM too harshly and probably rated Bonner too highly.

Re: What do you do about a lack of class.
] I loved it that Ross Lyon (and our assistant coach in charge of the midfield) had Henry, Steele, and Pou at stoppages in that last quarter. I didn't. Pou is a liability in there. Has absolutely no idea what to do with the ball in tight congested situations. Continually stands tall like he thinks ...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
Thought Bonner was a bit overrated. Struggled a bit like Dougal under pressure. NWM was BOG for mine. We were exposed without Webster. I agree on your last sentence, which surprised me a little. Didn't think we'd miss him so much, but we needed his hard edge and desperation and bigger body. Sounds ...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
I wildly disagree with you on NWM and Owens. Switch those two around although I would have had NWH closer to a 7-8 but otherwise I think this is a fantastic summary Ha. Just checked the stats. NWM had 25. I'm staggered, but happy to be wrong. I did think he was outpositioned a couple of times thoug...

Rating our players vrs Cats
To be honest we got closer than I expected and the heart we showed as a team was very comforting. I was bitterly disappointed to lose because I think with a full team we're better than the Cats. However down there with Sinclair missing is a big ask. Some players were enormous and some went missing c...

Re: Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints
Pou’s not ready to play midfield. It’s like giving them a spare man. Steele and Marshall aside, our mids are getting smashed. NWM is getting lots of the ball but defensively hasn’t been great. Hill is having one of those invisible games. Henry trying his guts out. Higgins frustrates the hell out of ...

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
Ben Cousins was a drug addict He was only hurting himself - however the gear probably made him train harder and play better?! Lovett and Thomas bash women, are bone lazy and have s*** attitudes - both absolutely s*** people Ben Cousins was very likeable (popular) very engaging and a manic footballe...

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
It’s bloody hard to say. Lovett we gave up a first round draft pick, this we wouldn’t have to give up much. He seems like a s*** bloke but he’s exactly what we need. I’d be ok if we got him and ok if we passed on him. Remember Gardy was considered a loose cannon as well. They don’t all fail to chang...

Geez. No Saints person should be smug. The 80’s was like a completely different lifetime. Very few of us can claim to be enlightened back then. Imagine if Glen James decided to file a case?

Well done Tim, extremely brave interview. Some of the comments on here at the time of the GWS final regarding Tim were beyond disgusting, truly the lowest this place has sunk. A self proclaimed ITK even claimed he knew the real story and Tim would never play for the club again due to his "self...

Re: StKilda again the ones that cop it.
Thanks CURLY, you historically post the an opinion I generally agree with, albeit with a colorful flair. It was my view that the AFL 'penalty model' suggests this incident is worth 3 weeks .. high contact, careless .. force .. etc .. the De Goey penalty a reflection of this policy. But Webster gets...
