Re: what happens if we win our opening two games ?
We won our opening 4 last year. We should do at least that this year. In Ross (a fit Seb) we trust. We should have too much run for Geelong and maybe even Collingwood ... if we shut down Daicos this time. I hope RTB comes up with a plan for both N.Daicos and Crisp to stop/curb/limit their run ... so...

Re: I would like everyone's honest opinion
12 of the regular Geelong players are the wrong side of 30 ... including Hawkins 35, Isaac Smith 34, Dangerfield 34, Tuohy 34, Stanley 33, Blicavs 33, Rohan 32, Duncan 32, Stewart 31, Guthrie 31, Cameron 31, Bews 30. I think this will count against them ... especially late in the game ? Saints by 30...

Re: Webster appalling
That was a 10 week suspension even back then. It was an unrealistic attempt - he could have tackled, but he elected to go in full-bore when he was nowhere near the ball. The thing is he protected himself, turning his back towards Clark who only had eyes for the ball. He had time to do that!! What ha...

Re: Training Reports
Let's have a look at the year before last when Seb Ross was not playing injured and do a comparison with Brad Hill (I just chose him at random). Seb Ross vs Brad Hill Season 2022 ... averaging 5 more possessions and with the same metres gained as Brad Hill, plus more tackles. Disposal efficiency was...

Seb had knee and hamstring issues last year.
Hopefully, he will have an injury free run this year.

Re: Training Reports
Last year Jack Higgins kicked 35 goals in the AFL Collard kicked 20 odd in the WAFL Colts I think Jack is a smidge ahead of Collard right now In fact ... Collard kicked 32 goals in only 11 games for the Colts! He kicked 10 goals in 2 final games. Collard could be the next Bobby Hill, who knows? ......

Re: Will Ross Continue to Play the Kids?
Lyon (and any hidden puppeteer/s) will keep erring on the side of playing the kids and giving them more game time. Wilson is certain to play opening round - he's training the house down. I include Hunter Clark in the kid category ... he averaged over 18 possessions with only 58% game time last year,...

Re: Arie Schoenmaker’s club punishment
Webster was apparently an unruly kid who had a reputation for settling his arguments with fisticuffs, but Richo managed to channel that aggressive energy in a positive way, that benefitted both Jimmy and the team. So. I'm sure Harvey, Hayes, Lyon, etc... will smooth any lingering rough edges or disc...

Re: Saints players rated out of 100
Our top 30 players score 46 and above ... I wonder what the average is, and how we compare with other teams? I can't be bothered adding the individual player ratings up and dividing by 30. Not that it really matters ... it is just their opinion. I think our overall strength, is our strength. And my ...

Re: Will Keeler be the real deal??
Stewart Loewe's kicking coach, Peter Hudson, deserves a big mention. What a turnaround. Who was the senior coach back then? But, anyway, Stewart Loewe still deserves the credit. If you get DIY tips from YouTube, or google, should you be crediting them for the projects/renovations that you complete?

Re: Will Keeler be the real deal??
But the point is Lovett only has himself to blame. It's all on him.
Tremendous ability gone to waste.
At least Essendon managed to get something out of him - enough to make us interested in him.

Re: Will Keeler be the real deal??
I agree with BM. Lovett is the perfect example of player and attitude. All Lyon had to do was convince him to turn a new page, now that he'd come into a new environment ... but he couldn't. Alan Jackovich is probably another good example ... he could have been anything - even thought of alongside Lo...

Re: Will Keeler be the real deal??
I think it's all up to the individual and his work ethic. Nicky Winmar in his book mentioned his father as being his best coach (and Nicky played under many AFL coaches). His dad made him regularly (on a daily basis) get out of the car and run alongside (for 5 kms or more) as he drove, after doing a...

Re: Some Cause For Hope
I just saw some footage of the training, and from the little I saw, Max Heath should be tried at FF. Moves beautifully. Knows when to lead. He'd probably kick 50 in a season. Maybe play him there in the practise matches, anyway? Max King could be played at CHF, with more space to work? Twin towers ....

Re: Champion Data Club by Club rankings 2024
Champion data focussed and heavily weighted their rating on the top end players, but I think what's being overlooked is that St Kilda bats lower than most other teams. Stocker for instance, a skilled and very handy player being left out of games and considered one of our fringe players. Billings not...

Re: Best teams
In reality, there may not be as much control as you think ... we're talking about a very tight and heavily contested space (that zone you're referring to) and split seconds. The ruckmen vie against each other and try to outreach and outposition their opponent during the hitout - they are looking and...

Re: Best teams
The midfield largely wins the clearances ... 90% of the hit outs are neither here nor there .A lot of hitouts go straight to opposition midifelders, even from "dominating" ruckmen. It is a very tight and contested space. It's hard to draw meaningful conclusions when comparing clearance num...

Gotta feeling we might have a crack at Ned Moyle..if that’s the case Cambell will be in trouble! I hope not ... if we have a look at his stats this year vs Marshall's. 4.5 disposals average with 77.5% game time ... based on 2 games at the Suns. Campbell would still deliver a lot better than that. I...

Re: Liam Stocker: Where’s he at?
Providing we improve our overall leg speed and spread next year with our new recruits (I can see a couple getting games early) and we see further development of our second and third year players, Stocker is exactly the player you'd want in your side ... strong, tough, with good kicking skills. You n...

I remember a series of consecutive losses to visiting gaelic teams who were just too quick for us, and Sheedy finally sorting it out by picking faster players ... overall speed of the side in and of itself can make a big difference.

Roberton was pick 49, I know Shoenmaker has big shoes to fill, but he's a shoemaker by name - he can make his own shoes.
