Re: WHO replaces Ross in midfield?
Ross had a few interesting moments in the Morwell game, one sticks in my mind above the others. He gathered the ball just inside defensive 50, had no support close by and was confronted by opposition. He held his ground, changed footing and kept on the move from foot to foot without actually commit...

Re: WHO replaces Ross in midfield?
i've heard the coach say two or three times now that he was hoping that Ross would take on the Lenny roll. I would have put Ross slightly ahead of Dunstan on performances so far this year. Dunstan has barely played yet, but I'm pretty sure he is ahead of Seb in the pecking order at this stage. I'm ...

Re: WHO replaces Ross in midfield?
It's great that in a free country like australia, the right to express a view on the chances of any individual footballer to make a career out of the game, hasn't as yet, been restricted. You can express your opinion, just as i can express mine. Totally agree. Your opinion is your opinion and of cou...

Re: WHO replaces Ross in midfield?
Lee won't make it. I take the view that those running the club know more about footy than I do. I take the view that those running the club know more about the footballers on our list than I do. At the end of each year some players retire, or are traded or are delisted. With that last group I accep...

Re: WHO replaces Ross in midfield?
Make no mistake, Ross will be missed. We really have no-one who can readily replace him. The coach was pinning his hopes on Ross being the replacement for Lenny. We have only had glimpses of the player Ross will become once he fully realises that he has the class and ability to truly compete at AFL ...

Re: NAB Challenge 2: Saints v Topups
I was away up the mountains for the weekend. There wasn't a tellie in sight and only had my mini Ipad to keep me in touch with the world. So you can image my very welcome surprise when i actually got to see the replay of the match. No gloom and doom at all and many promising performances from the yo...

I see that the Lions towelled up a rusty Sydney. Maybe our three point loss was a much better performance than has been acknowledged.

Re: Seb Ross lack of running capacities...
He's improving incrementally, similar to Armitage in his first couple of seasons. I thought Armitage would never get the tank or leg speed sufficient to become a really good player. I was wrong. Seb's cousin was in a very similar trajectory, and it took until his 4th season to blossom. Geary had a ...

Re: Seb Ross lack of running capacities...
Is Seb Ross the slowest Saints player to play with us since Stephen Powell? Honestly what our recruiters saw in him and the current coaching staff see in him as a potential AFL midfielder amazes me? His lack of affective run, spread and chase against the Lions was quite damning IMO. At one stage he...

Re: Saints v Brisbane = review thread
I was impressed by McCartin. Looked at home. Membrey was good. I know Saints supporters, well footy fans in general, don't sing but when we play Sydney "Thanks for Tim Membrey" would go well. Bruce was good up forward in the last quarter especially but just used it really poorly. Newnes w...

Yes,a very nice change. The footy public matter once more. Good show, old boy.saint-stu wrote:Lots of people very keen to get a look at the young players.
What a difference a change at the top makes. I can't imagine Dimmy doing anything like this.
Well done Gillon!
