Re: Match Thread Saints v Giants Round 5 2024
Least Caminiti took his full 30 secs 👍🤣 Even though we were 7 points down with 40 seconds to go I totally disagree with your criticism. He had to kick the goal. He took the time he needed. He kicked the goal- AND there were still 41 seconds on the clock at the next bounce . As we saw, still plenty ...

Just trying to get the heart rate down a bit so I can type. 5. Brad Hill. Gut running all day. 4. Rowan Marshall. Such a mobile follower . 3. Jack Steele. Never gives up. I think those three stood out. 2. Zane Cordy. Dougal will have to bide his time. 1. Marcus Windhager. Tagged well and found quite...

Re: Darcy Wilson
Whenever a junior in any sport steps up to the senior level, unless they are extraordinarily self-assured there is likely an element of self-doubt as to whether they truly belong. I hope that, with his two excellent last-quarter efforts ( that will certainly have drawn praise from coaches and collea...

I had Cordy in my top 5 until Wilkie’s superb last quarter just squeezed him out. Cordy was good all day.

Wonderful quarter by Hill; Jones and Owens lifted too. Battle and Steele remain the standout players today . NWM quality.

There are some good commentators in the AFL; Luke Darcy and Jobe Watson are not amongst them.

Re: Crab watch
We all talk petracca v mccartin But the biggest travesty was Judd v ball That cost us a premiership I agree with Meher Baba’s eloquent views on this . Also, It really is fair only to look at the decision at the time and, back in 2001 , the selection of Ball over Judd was totally reasonable. Judd ha...

So so frustrating and , in a macabre way, inevitable. We always seem to find a way. 5. Seb Ross. Superb early and still running hard at the end. 4. Rowan Marshall. Contested strongly against two ruckmen. 3. Jack Sinclair. Coming back into form. 2. Jack Steele. Big heart. 1. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera. ...

I usually kick off the votes, but tonight I am interstate for work and will be stuck in a dinner. So if someone else could kick the thread off , that would be appreciated.

5. Marshall. Wholehearted ruck effort all night.
4. Steele. Great onball work .
3. King. I loved his movement - presented a target. If 2.4 was 5.1 he gets the top votes.
2. Cordy. Blanketed Hawkins .
1. Henry. Terrific endeavour. Will be a beauty .

Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon
I just watched replay of the main game. Lots to like. Yes it was only a practice match, but all players were on the same page re the game plan, and execution was pretty good. Bonner a skilful distributor off half back. Perhaps this will allow Sinclair to be released into mid field . The Henry/ Hill ...

Gotta love the way the story is written up on saints.com.au "The Saints will field a near full-strength 26-man squad for their first hit-out of the year against opposition...Jack Sinclair (calf), Brad Crouch (knee), Hunter Clark (concussion), Paddy Dow (knee), Dan Butler (ankle) and Zak Jones ...

Re: I would love the club to officially recognise Mike Patterson.
I don’t think the Swamp Fox needs special recognition, but I disagree that he was a dud. In 1977 under Ross Smith we won 3 and drew 2 matches. In 1978 , Patterson was coach and we won 11 and drew 1. It was a fun season. He got us playing a very very tough brand of footy - the Baby Bombers still whi...
