Re: Team v Eagles

The part I do not understand is that Butler, Kent, Lonie and Hind are all in. With King, Battle, Membrey and ( for at least part of the game ) Marshall/Ryder up there, it will be very crowded ! I wonder if Hind will play on the wing . Or is Battle playing in defence ? Or both of the above ! One has...

Re: Changes for the West Coast game!!!!!

Out Marsh, Abbot and Phillips. In Membrey, King, Carlisle, I would leave Marsh in and have Kent out. I see him as a much bigger and more powerful version, but his size alone demands some sort of accountability from a decent sized defender. And he's still very quick, so we don't really lose any pace...

Re: Changes for the West Coast game!!!!!

Out: long bombs into the forward line

In: forwards who are on the move and mids/wingers prepared to lower their eyes.

Composure is critical. We've had no issue getting the ball inside 50 this year. But if we continue our current trend, McGovern and Barrass will feast and we will get smacked

Re: Score Review

And the camera is not fixed to the back of the padding, so it’s not inline with the goal line to start with. The second view seemed to show it was clearly touched. Yep. The opposite goal post camera showed it wasn't even past the post. It seems a flawed system in many ways. I guess the only consola...

Let's be honest, a few players aside, the whole team has looked like this for 5 or 6 weeks.

It's a big call, but he has the potential to be the best player on the list I reckon. Really starting to look comfortable.

Really powerful play from Marsh results in a Saints goal by Ryder.

Re: Match Thread Saints vs Hawks

There is NO WAY we win either of our next 2 games (WCE & GWS) we are playing absolute rubbish football ATM. Ratten (Raths) game plan has been worked out and our method into the F50 is amateur hour. I tend to agree about Ratts. Lacking any kind of ability to change it up. This goes all the way b...

Nope. Not even in the ball park.

Re: Saints after Zach Williams

The only issue I have with chasing all this top end talent is how does it effects the players already on the list. I was hoping a few of our home grown boys would take the next step with the talent top-up we got over summer but with the exception of Steele, most have either stagnated or gone backwa...

Re: Team balance and who'd you like to see this year?

Nope. I'm suggesting that your inclination that basically no one is available because we have no feeder comp, so they can't possibly be up to standard, isn't holding sway. It seems other clubs have rotated/managed players much better than we have. Including playing guys who may not have played if ci...

Re: Team balance and who'd you like to see this year?

Forget Bytel, Byrnes, Parker and Abbot as options for 2020. Doubtful they will get a game. Not having a second tier comp has made it hard to make changes and the longer the season has dragged on the less match condition fringe players will become. A massive dilemma. When the Dees made 6 changes I t...

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low

I'm not even sure what everyone is arguing about. Were we stiffed by the AFL system. Yes. (In typical St Kilda fashion) Was it a case of cheating by the umpires. Not even remotely. Technology (or lack thereof) let us down. But no more than we let ourselves down. Considering our history with umpires ...

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low

Gee, some of this makes for hard reading. How do people still not grasp the simple concept of the review system?? It's the same as cricket. Umpires call stands unless it there is definitive evidence to overturn the decision. It was obviously close. He actually did his job exactly as he should have....

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low

Typical ridiculous thread from the usual. Umpire a metre away called it a goal, looked like a goal on replay, but some people just have to have a whinge! The umpire wanted to know was it touched. If the bloke a meter away said the ball was over the line di if he touched it or not it’s irrelevant fa...
