Re: Newnes
Have to ask how he's gone backwards so far from 2016? He was primed to become elite but has instead become very average Spent the preseason injured and has been playing with a shoulder all season. And the coaches believe he is good enough to play injured at AFL level? Even at his best he is average...

Re: Weak as piss effort v Bombers
It's a reflection of the shite list , Ahmeet , Trout and the Pelican, put together for us. Those 3 clowns aren't recruiters, talent spotters, assholes.     Yep, Pelican was a disaster, all the teams that did top up rebuilds like Geelong, Hawks and Sydney are still up ...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Dons Round 21 2018
I think Richo is getting the most out of a very, very ordinary list. We need A grade players with A grade skills - and plenty of them. Yeah, I think that's right, we just don't have top end talent. We have plenty of GOPs but no high end players. Gresham is our best kid but he's not overwhelmingly b...

Re: Chips
I would have thought that all defenders were accountable to an opponent... In the Ross years Zac and Blakey played deep under Ross, with Bakes Raph, Gram and Chips played across HB (chips opposed to the CHF) and would be used as Rebounders when we won the footy. But we're certainly defenders. Chips...

Not sure too many have actually stood toe to toe with Sam? He's a huge unit, a phenomenal looking athlete ... Very similar size to Alex Rance. Fishers career. He was an Elite defender... I was Putting pay to the rubbish that he's a running HB or ever was... Because he's played his entire career as ...

Re: Chips
Strange how some think Chips is some sort of medium defender. Perhaps stand next to him and check out his chest and shoulders... he's a tank. and at 192 is the same hieght as Rutten, Glass, Rance, Harley, Grundy and loads of other Key backs. he has played key back ever since 2004 and has never play...

Re: Sandringham off Season news
Brandon is a very nice player.... He's a combination of Webster and Gilbert.... Good overhead, courageous, a loping glide across the turf, low flat fast kick. He will be the best of this years crop IMO as he has the most development left body wise. Rice and Gresham are very strong bodies.... Both w...

Re: It's only the pre-season BUT......
Take a breath folks. 1/3 of the teams first hit out of the year. We only lost by 3 goals proper and we missed some easy opportunities. Few of our senior players were quiet and will be better for the run. Melbourne are no longer the easy beats so expect them to have a good year. I suspect it will ta...

Re: The boy most likely: Jack Billings
Jesse Hogan? I think he's already pencilled in as a gun so it's a bit like predicting the sunrise. Kade Kolodjasni was a pretty good call too, he has some serious weapons and looks a star. for Melbourne Viney was the guy who some probably forgot about, he looks ready to fly. Realistically GWS have ...

Re: Saints name strong squad for Dees game
It'd be close to the R1 team, but Yes some would need the run... Wright for sure But Eli is a surprise, he's played all games and got a gig ahead of Jack... Perhaps a midfield run for Jack Saturday at Sandy? A lot of kids struggle the second year as the club ramps up training. I think Paddy said fi...

Re: Sinclair
He's an interesting one, he's very good especially near goal but not zippy, he needs to get his midfield numbers up to a point that they cant leave him out but probably an upgrade on Eli. He's still got a chance to go either way but a very impressive debut year.

Re: As a club, have we been in the premiership business?
I know that title might sound a bit silly. Of course a club plays for premierships right? But has it been at the absolute core of what the club does, first and foremost at every turn and every decision, or has it at times got a bit buried. The big clubs have always had a sense of almost mandatory s...

I have met a few of the AFL guys through friends of my wife. They are not impressive characters, Gilligan particularly has office boy more than power broker written all over him. These guys don't inspire confidence. Adrian Anderson was even better than him and he was a bit of a human slapstick routi...

Re: Small Stadiums
John Elliott put in seating etc which must be getting old but the terracing and stands are there. He thought he could bully the AFL in to using it. Unfortunately Etihad had a contract that didn't allow it. It also has no parking, poor public transport and is a little too far north for the southern s...
