Re: How the Saints escaped the wilderness

So unless I’m mistaken, at the end of the 2016 season, we swapped a first round pick with Hawthorn that netted us Coffield, Battle and Long. We also picked up Steele for a future second round pick, and drafted Rowan Marshall as a rookie. That is unbelievable. I think that Rowan has become so good th...

Re: Baffling selections costing us any chance

"Baffling" doesn't quite do justice to the decision to omit Carlisle. It deserves a Royal Commission.

And why the **** can't Dylan Roberton get a game. Either his heart is fixed or broken. If it's the former, then play him. If it's the latter, then retire him.

He’s been good I reckon. Probably played his best footy for us in the past few weeks. If you want to get upset about over paying someone .. think about Hanners ... were gunna be paying him $800,000 a year for the next 3.5 years while he sits there icing his hamstrings. You're serious aren't you? He...

Re: Match Thread

Terrible shots at goal cost us. taking too many hopeful snaps. Ratten has gotten our skills a lot better but not a tactician in my opinion. Stop blaming King as the entry to him was terrible and when he got near the ball he was good, especially for a big man. Hopefully Kent has played his last game...

Wtf would we rest Carlisle ... fmd ....

And king just isn’t doing enough to justify a spot. We shouldn’t play a kid just because he’s going to be good one day. He’s getting mauled each week.

Re: in defence of rats and our players

Thought that was a mature performance. They had their extra behind the ball, early on we bombed away but with no king and membery there it didn't work so we adjusted. What Clarkson whining is effectively saying is he was outcoached or his side isn't good enough. Either way better off saying nothing...

Re: Why the saints passed on Petracca. Inside story

In that article by our Roo (thanks for quoting, Saynta), it once again makes reference to "with the benefit of hindsite" about our reluctance to pick Petracca. This always drives me mental! At the time of the draft, we as a club unanimously agreed that we DESPERATELY needed a mid-fielder....

Re: ins and outs

Perhaps it now about choosing the best quality players, the best 22 players we have and making it work. Roberton is a better player than Hind and Kent. Why not bring Roberton in and play him on a wing (or put Clark there) and move Billings forward. We gain a better half forward and we lose nothing ...

Why did it get shut down. Let the people give to the man. Maybe help him and his kids more than anyone could imagine He deserves something good in his life. Re: Howard the steal of the trade period

I'd put my ranking of trades upside down from where they were before the season. Now it's: Butler Howard Jones Hill Pretty well spot on. Though Jones has been excellent and so lineball between him and Howard. And Ryder was always just steak knives and still is. I thought Ryder’s tap-work was pivota...

I've watched Freo as my second team (WA boy) and wifes first team for years. I've also accepted both Hills lack grunt on the inside and are a touch soft over the ball. Thats never going to be Brad Hills best attribute and hes always had gun inside mids around him in the past. He doesn't have that n...

Re: Ben Long's Bump - Any defence?

I didn’t think it was too bad. Darcy kinda slid into the contest - it wasn’t one those cases where the player was bending over picking the ball up. Maybe high contact and high impact but reckless - not intentional. I don’t think he meant to hit him in the head. No doubt they’ll throw the book at him...

I don't think it hurt that both Carlton and we are playing some pretty exciting / watchable footy at the moment. Certainly more watchable than some of the dour scraps that went on over the weekend.

There’s every chance we played a grand finalist last week so I’m glad we’re not making wholesale changes. We’ll prolly get pumped this week too because the other likely grand finalist is Richmond. It might take a few weeks before we know whether we’re any good or not. Can’t judge too much until then.

I have a question. How did we go from becoming a so called basket case to a “destination club” ? Would love to here your views. Moving from Seaford to Moorabbin was huge. It's the first big reason. A $50million facility in the heart of the bayside area. If that's Summer's only legacy then he gets a...
