Re: Arie SCHOENMAKER
With his leg, obviously the aim would be to get it in his hands as often as possible (a bit like we do with Nasiah and Sincs) But remember it was only 8 weeks ago he was banished to train with Sandringham for a fortnight. He has definite AFL attributes And things to work on Yes, I have noted that i...

Re: Arie SCHOENMAKER
Battle got 25 and 13 marks just two games ago Wilkie has his hands full on guys like Jeremy Cameron and Jesse Hogan I get that BigMart. I’m saying he’s getting a lot of possessions, so maybe a bit premature to pigeonhole him as a defender who can only come in to replace Battle or Wilkie. He’s shapi...

Re: Could we get a selection surprise this week?
Is Owens actually getting a run through the midfield? I’d have him in there ahead of Phillipou at this stage. I feel he can impact now whereas Phillipou is a way off … will get there though.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Tue 16 Apr 2024 10:13am Garcia should start, he and Windhager and hopefully Owens should grow into a strong midfield group.

Re: Could we get a selection surprise this week?
Would it be a surprise if we get some AFL capable experienced mature and match hardened bodies into the side? I agree, if it’s to be other than a development year. But who is available? Howard is down as test. Others - Crouch, Wood, Dow, Henry - are weeks to months away. We’re just going to have to...

Re: AFL great Carl Ditterich charged with child sex offences
It's hard when you know deep down you might have to change your beliefs about a hero. Look at OJ Simpson, there were people ecstatic when he was found not guilty, perhaps even a majority of people. It took some time for people to come to grips with it. Jimmy Saville, Gary Glitter - the world is lit...

Re: King cleared of ligament damage
It’s amazing how often clubs become over reliant on one man as the main target. Makes you predictable and easy to counter. It needs constant vigilance.

Re: AFL great Carl Ditterich charged with child sex offences
What's happened to the presumption of innocence?? In recent times state DPPs have come under severe criticism from judges for prosecuting alleged male perpetrators of sexual crimes against women only for these to be thrown out of court for lack of evidence. In some European countries the media are ...

Re: Arie SCHOENMAKER
Arie doesn’t have the tank or speed for a wing. He’s playing good footy but plays the role of Battle or Wilkie, two of our better and more durable players. Unless he replaces Sharman, in that forward/ back hybrid (nothing) role I don’t see it. I would love to see him get a run and bang a couple of ...

Re: Garcia. Great Debut
From inside sources - P hillipou has asked for more time in the midfield to learn the craft. Considerably hard position to learn. Which is probably why some of his games need to be at Sandy where he can play as a mid all game. He came to us a year early, so in some ways one should think of this as ...

About halfway through this. https://twitter.com/footyonnine/status/1777983825529757844?s=46&t=H9mqi6jezy4nQ-R0fglBvA Seems you were right about his house being rocked Curly. And I didn’t realise his wife has terminal cancer. He must feel the whole world is caving in on him. Hope he is ok.

Re: AFL StKilda tax sees Green free to play
Bne player's gesture to Mel's Petty? A case of bullying to be answered, notwithstanding size difference? Mental health priorities and all. Perhaps the AFL's social justice line is drawn a bit above that sort of banter. It was ugly, nasty and poor sportsmanship. No one likes a bad winner. I don’t th...

Where do you draw the line, though? Who decides what is a spur of the moment brainfade like Finlayson’s or a genuine attempt to stir up hatred against, in this case, gays. I think it is a slippery slope. Scotland has had thousands of complaints in the first week of the new law, many I suspect to se...

Smashing someone’s head to the ground, cool. Old time rubbish politically incorrect slur, 3 weeks. I would suggest the if the recipient of the slur, was in fact, er, um, genuinely linked to the slur, then one to two weeks. Call me a civil libertarian. I’m much more concerned about what people do th...

Re: How do we fix the forward line?
Fix the midfield. A good midfield can make an average forward line look fantastic. That’s got to be the priority. The other thing is, do we have anyone with natural goal-sense up forward? Don’t think we have a Milne or Gehrig … someone who just knows where they are instinctively. Higgins, for examp...

Re: Owens
Owens was definitely up the ground more in the 2nd half yesterday and we were using Hammer as 2nd ruck Also saw a bit more run and movement from Pou with a bit more kicking than usual Well I wouldn’t be surprised if Phillipou becomes an A-grade or better midfielder, but I reckon it’s a couple of ye...

So we lack star quality in the midfield and I have been hoping Owens and Windhager can become our version of Dangerfield and Selwood or our Petracca-Oliver or Dusty-Cotchin. Maybe that is a little ambitious, but it’s ok to dream .., I saw the match only on TV and was wondering if anyone at the groun...

Re: Saints once again under appreciated by the media
Yes I accept they are a fact of life, but we do seem to get whacked with the injury stick more than others. Even at full strength, our midfield lacks that star quality other clubs seems to have. Good, solid players yes, but there’s no Bontempelli or Petracca or Cripps … not yet at least. I would say...

Let's hope one of them gets the nod as second ruck instead of Michito, who we need as a ground mid at clearances in the absence of Crouch, Windy, etc
