Re: Tough Schedule

It was pretty obvious watching it live that the players looked fatigued. The scheduling was a factor. These guys are human, not machines. We don't have anyone to bring in.King, Crouch, Hayes, Webster, Howard, Henry, Clark, Dow, Paton and Wood all on the sidelines with no confidence that any of those...

Re: Match thread Saints v Dogs

Only two players played with genuine energy and hard running and they were Hill and Windhager. We know Hill is an aerobic freak and Windhager had a rest last week. I don't think it's a coincidence. Our scheduling in the past three weeks had a lot to do with that loss. The other is the fact that we h...

Re: Match thread Saints v Dogs

Unfortunately, I was at the game tonight. It was apparent from the 8 minute mark of the first quarter that there was a real lack of energy out there. Very sluggish. Players were not getting to contests, unable to spread. For the first time under Lyon we looked disorganised. I'd like to think it's do...

Re: Tribunal a new level of randomness

Why did he not cite Nick Vlastuin's dangerous tackle on Dan Butler a couple of weeks ago? That was more dangerous than the Cameron one.

I stick to my assessment of him

Re: Tribunal a new level of randomness

Michael Christian is a spineless fool at best. At worst, he is corrupt. Get rid of him. He is an utter failure. He should have been shown the door three years ago. I think we would get better decisions made by a couple of old drunk guys at the local pub. Everyone is sick of the incompetence, the inc...

Could we get a selection surprise this week?

Collard and Hastie were taken off at Half time on Saturday in the VFL. There was zero mention of them being injured. Could this mean that they have been earmarked for the Bulldogs game? It'd been pretty amazing to have four first year players in the line up at round 6 Then again, maybe I've been sni...

Re: Arie SCHOENMAKER

He's playing quite well. He has some things to work on, in particular his tackling (or rather his willingness to). He tends to let players get around him far too easily and then doesn't follow up with any urgency. I think this may partly be because he doesn't have a big tank and doesn't accelerate q...

TheNotSoGreatZacsby, I'll have you know I once karate chopped a 1m length of balsa wood with my bare hand.

My assistant, Mr Batfink, was suitably impressed

How dare you question my mastery of martial arts!!!!

Re: Trade King

His goal kicking is a problem. He's never going to be a smash and bash forward. He has to lead more. He gets held off the ball all the time and struggles with it. Someone should send him to a martial arts specialist to teach him how to get out of the grips of his opponents off the ball

Re: Gacia. Great Debut

It certainly does deserve its own thread.

He's got that manic attack on the contest. Energetic, aggressive and quick.

He's a keeper

That's two we can give a tick to from last year's draft.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Giants Round 5 2024

We actually matched them from the 2nd quarter onward, but made appalling errors that gifted them goals and denied us of them. Take those half a dozen howlers out and we win the game.

Some people on here say we're badly coached. If that game had been under Ratten or Richardson we'd have lost by 80

Against Bombers, multiple unforced errors. Lose by 4 points

Against GWS, multiple unforced errors. Lose by one point.

Hill, Steele, and Marshall were awesome. Garcia is a keeper.

Appalling miss by Caminiti. That kind of stuff, when you're struggling to stay in the game, is demoralising

Re: Can we?

Looking at that GWS line-up. Wow, it's a seriously talented team. They have more run than us, better clearance players, and a key forward who is a beast. Taylor at fullback is going to make it very hard for King, and Greene will provide a massive headache, as usual. I'd be inclined to play Stocker o...

Also, the key position players they've brought in from other clubs in recent years have been, for the most part, plodders.

Re: North - AFL fiddling

North did the the old 'top up' method when they picked up Dal Santo and a few others in the hope it would get them the cup. Then they coughed up too much for Stephenson, who has turned out to be a massive bust. Along the way, they took their eye off the long term during the 2014 to 2019 period and t...

Re: Cooked

Lyon sees this team as a work in progress, and rightly so. He inherited a team that was way down the pecking order in relation to contention with a worrying lack of emerging talent. The sins of the past (recruitment) had left him with a lopsided list and the focus has shifted to bringing in young ta...

Re: Isaac Keeler

What's noticeable about him is his light frame. He played on Sam Weideman and Weideman looked like Tom Hawkins compared to Keeler. Although the same height, Keeler could make no physical impact with his one on one contests. He simply couldn't move Weideman off the ball and Weideman is not known for ...

Re: Cooked

So......not having near your best team on the park is absolutely no excuse? Hmmm Okay, so how many test matches would the late 1990s/early 2000s Australian test team have won without McGrath and Warne?. That's only two players, right? Would still have dominated, right? If you don't believe that Wood...
