Re: Are we seeing the old 2010 RTB traits
A role player is defined as a player who lacks certain tools but has good concentration, generally excellent resilience and can stick to a task, this type of personality is also willing to please. Generally at the elite level most coaches believe you can only carry about 4-6 of these types of playe...

Lol half the sites saying we are no better than last year and you’re saying move on?? I think you’re “reserving judgement” might be just hedging your bets so you can say “I told you so” if drop Get off the fence mate I think it's you!! who actually took an each way bet at the start of the year ...a...

Re: Maybe we’re not attacking enough
Hard to attack if you haven’t got the ball. It all starts in the midfield. Which is why I suggested trying the likes of Sinclair in the midfield! Sinclair did play mainly in the midfield vs Hawks. All of the 2nd half anyway. Result - lowest possession tally by some margin for the season, and involv...

Re: Pathetic
It's hypocrisy to say that Windy and Bytel need 'development' at VFL level but Mattaes gets to play 11 full games in a row. If you count the 2 practice games against Melbourne and Essendon that's 13 in a row!! I like Pou, but surely we can't be playing favourites if we want to be a successful AFL c...

Re: Where we are at
Forward line - Tick. Doesn't need Membrey in it. Backline - Tick. Wings - (NWM, Wood, Hill) - Tick Midfield - No good. Part of this is players like Higgins, Butler, Gresham, Paton, Byrnes, Stocker, Phillipou - not really mids and can't fit them all forward and back. Philippou and Stocker probably t...

Re: Predictions this Round
Crouch is certainly a ball magnet, but I don’t rate 30 or35 touches if it means you’re handing back the footy to your opponents a third of the time. Most pundits here (and also the Saints official media team) were claiming Crouch would get a podium finish in the Trevor Barker Medal in 2022. He ende...

Re: Side v Hawthorn
As scollop I think pointed out in another thread, Marshall also averages something like 5 clearances, himself, which I reckon trump hitouts to advantage - as there is only a chance with those ending up as clearances. I'd prefer hitouts to advantage, especially Ryder hitouts to advantage. Not really...

Re: Side v Hawthorn
What effect will this have on the Hawks? None, or some? The Age is reporting that a Hawks Chief Exec (not sure if CEO, COO CFO) Justin Reeves has resigned 'amid the racist investigation' OMG typical of the Age to conflate the 2 things, or link the quitting to the inquiry. Anyway... That is why he r...

Re: Our midfield
We don't set up well and we often have three in-and-under players (Steele, Ross, Crouch) at the bounce, giving us no run and no spread. Our opposition seem to always have an outlier and quickly create space. In my opinion, Sinclair needs to play as a full time mid. We can't continue with both Ross ...

Great having King back, and we sure need him, but the media overhype is ridiculous. So much attention on him, may help Caminiti, Membrey.

Re: What aspects of coaching worked well today?
Scolops, I know you've been champing at the bit to get into RTB all season , but 7-3 makes it difficult, no? I had been supportive from basically the start of the year and weeks before even Round 1 had started. I'll be wanting to embrace Ross and give him a cuddle even ...if he can get us back to b...

5 Sinclair 4 Steele 3 Stocker 2 King 1 Gresham (nowhere near his best, but he kept us in it when we were really struggling). Howard (apart from one dreadful mistake), Webster, Wilkie, Hill, Caminiti, Higgins and Butler all did a bit too. I agree NWM did many wonderful things, but he also stuffed up...

I agree. Trouble with the Green(e)s. I thought Webster would go to Toby.
Battle not agile enough, and Wilkie on Greene wasting his intercepting ability.

Re: Our midfield
I don't know why posters want Sinclair shifted permanently to the midfield. He is very dangerous (AA) from half back, where he can use his superb ability to read the play and launch attacks, also intercept plenty of threatening moves forward by the opposition. That would be negated somewhat in the m...

Re: What aspects of coaching worked well today?
So the questions remain unanswered How did our highly rated senior coach go against the rank novice in Kinsley? What aspects did our coaching group get right today? Kingsley? The senior assistant with years of experience who finally got the top job? Other than you, who in the football world is deni...

Am I missing something? Still not being selected despite being a great user. Hitting targets seems to be an issue at the moment and his ball use is usually excellent. Has his VFL form been that bad? Who's getting the nod ahead of him? Batchelor's VFL review (see other thread), gives some insight. P...

Re: What do these inclusions mean?
So you are saying that all players have off days. I get that... Wouldn't it be wise when a player has an off week to make them Sub the week after and bring in someone fresh and in good form? Isn't that part of the art of good coaching and good management and maximising the team's chances of winning...

That's it! Re: Votes v crows
Voting is subjective and I don't have a huge issue with who people vote for. I just like to express my thoughts and hopefully get people thinking a bit deeper about who we reward. There is no doubt that Crouch gives great effort 4 weeks ago when Crouch was getting 30 touches most on here were ridic...

Clark Steele Higgins Sinclair Wood Up until Jack Steele came off the ground it was clearly between him and Hunter Clark for best Saints player. Clark was one of the few Saints who kicked well yesterday. Clark and Steele went at 76% disposal efficiency. Hunter kept contributing in that last quarter ...

Don't worry about Crouch. He will want to stick it right up Nicks for releasing that you can go (which he did) video. Good point. I'm sure he does but... Would have been better to rest him last week and let him come in fresh for this game. It's not like he was in ripping hot form for the last 3 wee...

Are Melbourne appealing? I hope they do, as any suspension is wrong in my view. Hopefully sanity will prevail, as it did in the Clark incident.
