Re: 20 years ago. Trevor Barker. RIP
One of the greats of our club. Gave us hope and pride - and tremendous loyalty - in an era when there was not much to cheer about . Legend. RIP.

Re: Lee is lost
I disagree. Not all Cameron's goals kicked on him. A very soft free in there as well. Tom Has showed good effort and composure at times. Just had a good stint in the ruck against Mummy. Far from perfect, but not our worst by a long way.chook23 wrote:His opponent just gets separation so easily

Re: No more Grand Final replay
Yes, it's fair to say, we're due a teeny bit of luck in finals. In saying that we should never have lost 1971, 4 goals up in the wet, that game still haunts me, as does 2009, should've put that game to bed before half time except for shocking kicking, toe poke should not have come into it My own tr...

George was my favourite player & Billings does have certain characteristics of him! George was my favourite too - hence the name I use for this forum. Both beautiful left footers, and Jack has a better right foot than George , who may have had maybe three right foot kicks in his career !!! The ...

1. Was an emergency for the seniors today. 2. According to VFL website was second best player for Sandy today ( behind Blacres) . 3. Roberton likely out for next week, and Gilbert perhaps moving forward to cover for Roo as he did today, seemingly opening up spots for 2 talls in defence. As Elvis sai...

Re: Time for Blake Now!
Assuming Roberton, Paddy and Roo are all unavailable next week, perhaos Lee ( who apparently did well today ) comes in for Roberton, Membrey in for Paddy ( noting Lee and Membrey were emergencies for the seniors today, so presumably are close to selection) , Gilbert pushes forward as he did in secon...

5. Leigh Montagna. 4. Jack Newnes 3. Jack Billings. 2. Jack Steven. 1. Shane Savage. After the Port game I suggested he be dropped, but he got back his mojo today, and I was very happy to see him running forward and kicking long to position. Apologies to Dempster, Ross, Webster , Dunstan and a bunch...

A super game today. Four quality quarters. Got 30 disposals, and surely must have had 90% plus efficiency. I was sitting up on the top deck, and from that birds' eye view one can see how he makes smart decisions, and weights his kicks perfectly. A couple of very handy goals as well.

You tipped this Locals322 - Respect. I didn't see it coming but what a day it was to be at the MCG to watch the Saints come marching in. Agree. Well done Locals322. That was as enjoyable - and perhaps as important - a win as we have had in the last 4 years, and so good to beat that mob. With our nu...

I agree totally. He used it beautifully last week but only had 19 disposals. Today he was clinical again and had 30 disposals and covered a lot of territory. All class. Very impressive.Trixilver wrote:Billings is an incredibly clean player. Every time it's in his hands you know something is about to go down.

I agree. He still does not get enough of it, but on a night when so many of the boys butchered the ball he was a standout exception. Superb delivery. Looks to me as if he had added significant length to his kicking.prwilkinson wrote:His kicking and vision are amazing.

Sheahan A favourite of Pluggers We are all aware of our history.... With a bit of luck... It'd be different Gleeson, Oakley, McIntosh, Gellie, Maguire, Penny, Hamill, X.Clarke, Watts, Allen and countless others just had there careers cut due to injury That and being able to retain players Some of t...

Re: One of the longest games for a while?
I think it was about 37 minutes. The Caarlton timekeeper had tied up the StKilda timekeeper up so he couldn't press the button. Wasn't it Mil (the freak) Hanna who took a mark but got cleaned up and Fraser Murphy took the kick? (or was it the other way around?). Agree it was one of the most frustra...

Re: Changes against the Dogs
I think we need some more height both forward and back. As to the backline, Webster and Savage were both down a bit. Given Joey is now playing more of the quarterback role ( as befits his nickname ) I think Shane is at risk. In : Lee, Out: Savage. Up forward, Jade Gresham will be back, but a bit ear...

I agree with OP. The last 40 minutes were extremely disappointing. However, what preceded it was excellent . We showed some very good signs. So pleased to see Joey make a significant contribution in his 250th.

Re: POLL: Should there be an AFL game on Good Friday?
Good Friday is a public holiday to recognise a significant Christian event and allow for quiet reflection. If it is an anachronism to recognise the event any more, then by all means scrap the holiday , make it a working day ( helpful to the economy) , if necessary make an added contribution to the R...
