Re: Saints Channel on YouTube

Apparently the people running the channel have put together a 3 hour highlights package of Stephen Milnes’s career they are releasing soon. Thank you Jason. Look forward to it. Milney's overall career and brilliance has been underrated by many. People have constantly derided him and have focused fa...

Re: George Young turns 70

To me Georgie Young was like "silk" back in the 70's.
That title has been taken over more recently by Shaun Burgoyne. Totally different players, but both blessed with silky skills. Best wishes George.

Re: Saints Channel on YouTube

Hi saynta & happy feet, Do you guys rate Riewoldt in the same class as Ditterich and Harvey? For what its worth I'd also have Baldock , Plugger and Stewart as 1, 2 and 3 respectively. After that I cannot separate Harvey and Riewoldt. I used to have Ditterich as the toughest but have changed my m...

Re: Saints Channel on YouTube

This is not about the Doc as coach, but as a player... I can remember chatting to, in the late 1960's or 1970, the grandfather of a school friend at the time. He was a keen Richmond supporter and spoke about attending finals at the MCG in the late 1920's. He would have seen Dyer, Titus, Coventry, Bu...

Thanks very much jaxons. As suggested I subscribed to the channel recently. It has been an unusual and precious privilege to share the vision of the Doc and his players in the sanctuary of the rooms at Moorabbin.

Re: Plugger Lockett Fans

Thanks for posting. I saw most of Plugger's games and have tremendous memories. For example, I remember the day he kicked his 100th goal for the season against Footscray in1987. Can you also recall his 101st goal on that same day? From my memory he coolly slotted the winning goal (number 101 to equa...

Re: RIP John O’Donnell

Hi Sean. That is sad news. I can also remember having a photo of John O'Donnell taking a huge grab, probably taken in about 1968. If my memory serves me correctly John O'Donnell also featured on the Scanlen's footy cards at around the same time. I'm sorry but I no longer have any photos of John. RIP...

Re: Membership scam

The club informed me recently that they had attempted unsuccessfully to directly debit my account. To my knowledge I have never paid for any of our memberships via direct debit. Will contact the club soon and sort it out, as the issue probably relates merely to incompetence at the club. I refuse to ...

Some Saints in the Media- Rate them??

In my opinion: Dal - 8.5 Polished almost silky deliverer of news. May have rated higher if he didn't tip the Hawks to finish 14th next year. Was that a joke? Joey - 7.5 Quite capable and natural performer. Fits in well whatever the occasion. Roo - 7.0 Champ who slots in well with Browny, Ed and the ...

Re: Draft guess 1st pick

Max King spent a lot of time at Moorabbin while recovering. The Saints have clearly been highly interested in him and have invested in his welfare. James Gallagher was appointed as list manager in early August, followed later by assistant coaches Ratten and Lade. These recent additions to our staff ...

One of my all time favourite memories was the 1997 Preliminary Final against North. Heatley starred against North and kicked a bag (7 goals?). I think he played on Mick Martyn who was a ferocious competitor. I agree, Heater was a superb kick for goal. I remember Peter McKenna on Channel 7 singing hi...

Well done Saints. I wonder if Molly played a role in getting Billy to Moorabbin? Regardless, Slater is an absolute legend and should be a great asset to St.Kilda, both on and off the field.

If we didn't beat Gold Coast in Round 13?

We would now have pick 2 at the Draft.

Would Richo still be our coach however?

Discuss.

Re: Get your passports ready

Perhaps we should start planning for the Box Hill Hawks VFL away match next year. We could stay in one of the local hotels for team bonding. Invite the local media together with Mandarin interpreters, to see motivational speakers such as Richo discussing tactics. Could be a good opportunity and espe...

I agree with most of the sentiments. The PR people are probably trying their hardest but for the most part, the saints class of 2018 have lost me. My kids are losing interest and passion for the first time in their 17 years, as I am after 52 years. I don't have an easy answer to our woes, but I beli...

Do I care more about footy & the club than this current regime?

Re: Troy Schwarze - the unlikely hero!

Great memories from 2004! I too often wonder how we would have gone in a 2004 GF against a tired, weakened Lions outfit. They knocked us off by 80 points at the Gabba in week one of that Finals series. They were a formidable side indeed, especially in Brisbane. At the MCG however on the last Saturda...

Re: Has there ever been a more inaccurate team?

Hey Sainternist. A bit of trivia...I can remember one man who laced up his boots on the correct feet.

In the same year that Nicky Winmar raised his jumper in front of the Victoria Park mob, another fellow managed to bag 53 goals 12 behinds (in 10 games though).

His name: Tony Lockett.

Has there ever been a more inaccurate team?

I have probably played in or seen close to 1,000 games of footy over the years. This includes decades of playing or watching junior footy at all levels, as well as teams in many senior competitions both country and metro. As a member or supporter I've seen St Kilda several hundred times dating back ...

Speedy Saints

Have heard a lot in the last year or two about the importance of speedy outside players... Players who can break the lines. Upon reflection we have of course, had a fair share of pacy players over the years. Here is a compilation of some Speedy Saints over the years. This is by means an exhaustive l...
