Re: Dow officially nominates Saints
Gresham's a midfield forward and Dow is a midfielder. Butler and Higgins are the stay at home small forwards. It wouldn't have been fair to compare them to either Gresh or Dow. The way Gresham dashes and darts around, and given his extra game time, I would have expected Gresham to have at least doub...

Re: Dow officially nominates Saints
The thing about Dow is with only 53% game time compared to over 80% game time for Gresham, he still averaged 100 more metres gained.
That really surprised me.
... we will be gaining from this trade.
With equal game time, he'd go close to tripling Gresham's metres gained.

Re: Dow officially nominates Saints
Dow averaged 16 possessions with only 53% Game Time, this year ! He should get around 80% game time with us ... so around 25 possessions plus. His disposal efficiency is running around 65%, not great - but he has around 10 kicks per 6 handballs, and in the midfield, you are under a lot of pressure. ...

Re: DeGoey
We should simplify the recruiting process for our recruiters, foolproof it and dumb it down for them ... have 3 boxes for them to tick, with the headers "skill," "speed" and "power." If any draftee ticks all the 3 boxes, you recruit them - simple as that. Same applies f...

Re: DeGoey
In another team's jersey, he found his fame. Our recruiters' loss, to our eternal shame.
He was there for us to draft. His x factor was obvious - power, speed, skill - but our recruiters knew better, of course.

Re: Astute trading
When there's the choice of passing the ball to players of the calibre of Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw, Langdon, etc... he's probably not getting the ball delivered to him as often as he would at St Kilda. Think of it that way. We won't be giving him 50% game time, thats for sure.. We could end ...

Re: Astute trading
James Jordon with only 55% game time, still averaged just over 13 disposals this year in a strong Melbourne midfield. He's not playing as a specialist forward, probably more as a midfielder to half forward. In 2022, with 76% game time, he averaged over 20 possessions as a 21 year old. The main midfi...

Re: Post-match analysis
CQ saint: For team balance, and also from what we should have learned about our specialist small forwards from previous finals (their reduced output and effectiveness in tough, physical games) over the last 15 years or so, we probably should've dropped one of our small forwards at least, for a bigge...

Re: Post-match analysis
Stocker, Owens, Windhager, NWM even 18 y.o. Phillipou ... they have improved us. And they will keep maturing and getting better. I agree, we have improved over 2020 and 2022. But re the post match analysis ... Billings and Coffield could have made a difference ... we took too many small forwards int...

Re: Post-match analysis
Taking 3 small forwards into tough finals where you'd logically expect them to be outbodied and outmarked ... seriously!
Amateur St Kilda hour ... we never learn.
Gresham ... and that's it.
A chance for 2 bigger bodied inclusions.
It's like falling for our own 3 card trick. Unbelievable.

Re: Post-match analysis
The ball waltzed out too easily from our F50 entries. Let's face facts: Our game plan allows too much space for opposition halfback lines, conceding too many easy rebounds. We've seen it all year. GWS developed too many clean chains from half back, and an easy link up with their strong midfield. Des...

After this spanking people are going to smash everyone and the Rantometer will explode!! Rant Rater: 1. RTB is a @#!% & we hate him ( although we ALL know coaches make NO difference to outcomes) 2. [PLAYER] is also a @#!% & we hate him/them....they must be replaced 3. [MEMBER] is also a @#!...

RTB should get off his high coach's box and be a ground-level coach, geeing on his team and giving players immediate feedback and instructions.

Gresham has started to come good ... needs to continue dancing around and bringing it in the second half.
They are missing Coniglio ... we can do it.

We need to hold it in our forward line at least.

Re: Saints list reset
Our talented kids and recent good recruiting needs to be acknowledged. The recent recruiting happened prior to our new coaches taking over the reins, and there's no guarantee that this will continue ... let's hope it does. And Stocker should be played ... you need skilled, hard-bodied players in fin...
