Re: Marcus Windhager
Sensational. Watching these kids dominate was as good as 04.
Windy, NAS, Owens. And King to a lesser extent as he’s a couple of years older.

Re: Worst possible start to the season we were all fearing...
There is a bit more balanced view of this: Pros: No injuries, we are fitter and more available next week. Sincs to come back in, Crouch and Windy better for the run. Plenty of footage to watch and learn from Cons: Disagree that Geelong are good. That game was one of the worst of the weekend. If we ...

Re: Phillipou
Can I ask why? For mine his game was no different to last week, ineffectual and tbh, needs more aggression. Has lost confidence and needs to find it. His 1 wood should be his marking. Never see him run, jump and take marks anymore.
The other kids were all superb

Re: Phillipou
I personally think that ppl are just sick of the kid being gifted games every week when clearly he's struggling. I've said this often, you don't have to be in the best but you have to show that you're footy is progressing to some degree. What we are questioning is, why is he constantly getting games...

Re: Phillipou
....I think he's the opposite of a player who competes hard. What I've seen on the field (not training) is a kid who is not competing hard or having a go. I think he'll be as good as BJ Do you remember the doubters who questioned Goddard's worth? Goddard didn't have a break out game in his first 2 ...

Re: Phillipou
The lad goes hard and doesn't squib it. He is 19. This is where we disagree. He needs to be harder as far as I'm concerned. He is still a kid and sometimes that sort of thing doesn't come natural. I'm not sure why you think we're crucifying him because we want him to go back to Sandy? No-one is sug...

Re: Phillipou
He hasn’t had a breakout game in 24 games. In my opinion he is not a goer nor does he compete hard. His skills are standard AFL. The excitement, as far as I can tell, is that he’s tall, and potentially a big body who can potentially take a big mark. His kicking isn’t laser like but it can be long W...

Re: Phillipou
I suppose we need to understand what various posters expectations are of a young second year top 10 draftee thrown into the midfield. Is he expected to perform as well as a Dangerfield or a Ross, somewhere in between? Has he had a breakout game we can benchmark or are judgements based on impossible...

Re: Phillipou
Windy did some important things in second half, as did Owens. Owens took some great marks but didn’t finish off his work, I can live with that for now. Windy caused some horrible turnovers too. Owens only had 1 clearance...Pou had 3...Windy had 2 clearances. Both Pou and Mich had 20 pressure acts. ...

Re: Worst possible start to the season we were all fearing...
I disagree that our season is over or that it is time to start panicking. We are unlikely to win against the pies but we will not get flogged. It will be a 3 to 4 goal loss so all the Ross Acolytes can say but we have injuries, we played the best team in the comp and we would have beaten them at Ma...

Re: Phillipou
We're about building a Premiership List. So we need to get 50 plus games into Phillipou (and Owens, Windhager etc) as quickly as possible. There is no utility in Phillipou playing VFL. He doesn’t have to be in the best 5 each week for our team, but he does need to show something every week. Apart f...

Re: Phillipou
We lost a game of footy and some people think the finger needs to be pointed at Mattaes instead of the senior players I'd be starting threads on Crouch, Hill and Mason Wood before people criticise a 2nd year player. Spot on. Can you imagine the uproar from the same posters if our top ten draft pick...

Re: Crab watch
Ross has cut his nose of to spite his face many times This is just another example JB proved today - as he did on numerous occasions with STK he is a quality AFL HF Today he’ll get Brownlow votes, as he did a number of times before. HFs that average 20ppg and a goal are pretty rare Put it this way ...

Re: Crab watch
Billings has indeed been quite good. It's been enlightening watching him play for another team. His big drawbacks are that he doesn't make any sort of a physical impact on the game with either strength or speed and, while his skill levels are quite good, he doesn't have anything in his bag of trick...

Re: Crab watch
To all the Billings haters go and have a look at his stats today. As Vortex would say, we need a bigger sample size before we start eating that humble pie. I did note that he didn't impact the scoreboard and MB stated that whilst he played well he wasn't exactly doing anything extraordinary. ...

Re: Phillipou
He needs waaay more aggression at the contest. Way more. Atm he's playing like a talented kid, except the problem is he's playing against hardened men and he STILL looks like he doesn't like that. He absolutely needs to go back and play against men in the VFL where the ball moves a bit slower and he...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
NWM should be on a wing. He is too easily moved off the ball in a backline contest. Bonner looks OK - can take a mark and is a very good kick. His passes were low and hard. But he too is light for a backman. Our back six seem skinny compared to the top sides. Howard only makes that worse, and he fu...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
Surprised with the high rating for Steele, I think it may have something to do with being the best of a piss-poor midfield. If that was a 9/10 tonight, then 2 years ago he would have been pulling out 15/10 every second week. I think we forget how good he was when he was nearly winning Brownlows. Yo...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
Fair enough Scollop. You’re entitled to your opinion. I’m hoping this thread doesn’t become about that comment.
My main point is that I’m prepared to concede after watching the game once that I’ve rated NWM too harshly and probably rated Bonner too highly.
