Re: So, it's Official!!!!!
Go after Steele. Plenty of upside there. JOM just not worth taking the risk on. Unless he's cheap! And I doubt he would be. Fantastic player 3 years ago, might be again. But might isn't good enough.

Process not Outcome. Great coach-speak going on there. But as a coach myself (not footy) I know what he means.
But as a fan.... it means we are missing a 's***load' of goals!!

Re: don't buy stolen goods. Saints 50 year history book,
I have been given a copy by my missus for my 60th. Because I live in the UK it has been delivered to my Mum's place in Sydney. It arrived a couple of weeks ago. Apparently safe and sound. Not good to hear some have gone missing. I can't wait to see it, but it won't be to Xmas when I next come home. ...

Re: Congratulations Verdun- Inducted into AFL HOF
Nice post Perfectionist. I was there on 2 of those days. I remember Howell and Murray swapping in that game very well. I remember the crowd yelling out that they'd gone to the wrong ends. And then we thrashed the reigning premiers who were undefeated on their home ground. Happy Days! And while you a...

Re: Congratulations Verdun- Inducted into AFL HOF
I couldn't be happier about this. Fantastic news. That vision gives a glimpse of his great talent. I remember a commentator saying once that Verdun was like Nijinsky. I think he meant the ballet dancer, not the horse! By today's standards a small full back, but he had a fantastic leap, was quick, a ...

I agree. Was pleasantly surprised at how well we were going. Port at home just had some more stars, and a bit more maturity at the end.bigred wrote:Heck. They had a red hot crack.
And for the most part played better football and caused Port to cough it up.
Lots to like.

Thought Savage looked a bit proppy today. He had an ankle and calf with heavy taping. Just didn't look as smooth as usual. Won't surprise me if was carrying an injury.

Aaah Bratty, pleased I'm not going senile. I've found the other thread about St Kilda in Scotland. I just was a little jumbled about who was the original poster, what year the thread was in. At least I was spot on about me & Gershwin having a chat about appropriate music to accompany his boat t...

Re: So who has been posting here for more than 10 years
I found the site very early. 2000 or 2001? Maybe earlier. Was always Verdun66, as I am on Big Footy. Used to like Back to Moorabbin ....some guy did a humorous blog on games in the period 1996-99....something like that. Although it was a bit inconsistent. He would miss games. You never quite knew wh...

Re: Which old ground do you prefer?
I was very young, but the Junction was a special place. Great location. I did like Moorabbin, but the Junction had the old stands, terrific playing surface and was St Kilda. We had to move from there for reasons we know, but we did lose something.

On one of those Fox Re- Drafting exercises Jack Newnes at Pick 37 has been re-rated to Pick 14.
Not a definitive view of course, but Jack has been consistent and improving. The trade has worked out.

Re: Draft Assessment
I'm happy. Brandon White was tipped on BF by a couple of people a few months back. Gresham has been talked in the 10-15 area all season, and we knew about Rice. Matho and Tucker fell well back, and so it wasn't just us ignoring them. Pace, courage, good kicks, natural footballers. Carlisle and Freem...

Brian Speaking @Brian_Speaking It's nice to have AFL plants running our club. What's he talking about here? Finnis or Rhododendrons? It's never too late. They take Gold medals away years later, and award them to the next person. I am not saying that this is what will happen here, but it's possible. I said at the time the saddest thing is even if it happens and we get something retrospectively, the joy we would have had is taken a...

Re: Geelong admits sourcing drug from Dank in 2009
I remember clearly rumours about Geelong in 2009 and the pies in 2010. They were on here for a while, and on BF. Then it all quietly went away. The Pies one about elevated levels of testosterone keeps bobbing up. But the Cats rumours have been dead for a while.
Nothing would surprise me....
