Those were the days. The cap worn in the photo were very popular in the 1970's & early 80's.
I luv the home knitted scarfs. The one I wore was woven on a nifty little piece of tubular plastic with tabs on the top.
It was the only thing I ever made on it.
And the beer cans appear to be steel.

Watching games at the St.Kilda Junction Oval was always good as there was a good rake/angle on the ground in the outer.
During the 1970's, the Victorian Football Association would play their finals there, and as a Dandenong fan I enjoyed watching the late Travis Payze ruck roving and Alan Harper at full back, both former Saints players.
There were plenty of fights on the ground, and plenty of fights in the outer.
The hard core VFA fans were feral.

I was concerned that this thread was about someone dropping one in the crowd.

But then I read the title properly.

Shane MacGowan would have fit right in at Moorabbin back in the 80s with the Animal Enclosure. He'd be absolutely soused by half time and wouldn't be conscious by the final siren, which is perfect because the scoreline would be too bloody depressing.

People were drinking it in the 80s, weren't they?

Maybe it was Paul Hogan who turned everyone off drinking Fosters. I seem to recall all the product placement for Fosters in Crocodile. It was after then that it became an export beer that no Aussie would touch with a ten foot pole.

I reckon the fella in the cap might be a young (slim) Kevin Cowboy Neale not long out of retirement.
Also agree the mullet guy in the wrangler top is Nudge from Hey dad, probably trying to spend a day away from the set and Martin Kelly's wandering hands.

The plugger character on the right looks more like the film presenter Ivan Hutchinson albeit with a bit of beef on him

Fosters is now an export only beer I believe. Has been for over 20 years. Isn't it the same as Crown Lager with a different name?

The last time I drank Fosters in Australia was 1989 at a 21st birthday party. Even back then it was an odd selection.

saying that , I thought they still played there after 83 ?
Didn't we also play Fitzroy as the last game at Moorabbin?

Yes, 1st August 1992.
