Re: Team 2017
You seem to have delisted Goddard and Murdoch and don't rate Koby Stevens
Then we have at least 2 recruits coming from the draft.
What no room for our 2 rookies Ray Connellan and Darragh Joyce from the land of spuds.
Then what happened to our two New Zealand scholarship kids Joe Baker-Thomas and Barclay Miller.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

You are going lose your job to somebody who uses AI.

Re: Team 2017
Well, I do not see Gilbert playing VFL nor Dunstan.
Plus, given a full pre-season and delivery on potential, Freeman will not be playing VFL as will not White.
So, given all things being equal and resulting in those 4 being walk up starts it gets interesting, doesn't it?
So when does the veteran Dempster come under pressure noting he now reverts to a defensive flanker?
And can we afford to play 3 "lock down" defenders in Brown, Geary and Dempster in the same side - none of whom give the spread and rebounding length which served the WB's so well in the 2016 Finals series?
The development of McKenzie and White in our back line is crucial to our improvement - and will put pressure also on Savage (as well as Dempster and Geary).
We improved our scoring potential in 2016 - but we did not improve our defensive efforts as our percentage attested to - so we need mid-field pressure to assist plus, more significantly, an improvement in our defenders

I think Dempster will be interesting to watch, no longer will he have to fight out of his height and weight division with opposition best key forwards. To the top wrote:Well, I do not see Gilbert playing VFL nor Dunstan.

He will get a lesser forward to play on or should I say zone off.
He will be freed up to become the third player up in a marking contest with a running leap.

Webster and Wright in our seniors. Don't know who goes out, but tough to keep them out.

Re: Team 2017
Full Back: Geary Brown Dempster
Half Back: Webster Carlisle Montagna
Centre: Riewoldt Armitage Newnes
Half Forward: Billings Bruce Weller
Full Foward: Membrey McCartin, Grescham
Followers: Hickey Steven Ross
Interchange: Acres, Steele, Dunstan, Savage
Emg: Stevens, White, Gilbert, Rice, Sinclair, Lonie, Roberton, Minchington, Wright, Longer .... etc. etc.
Definitely competition for spots. Is Nathan Brown in the best 22? I'm not entirely sure but I put him in anyway. There's a few spots that seem pretty flexible depending on the opposition. Starting to look like a pretty strong footy side across the park though.

Re: Team 2017
Agree with this, except McKenzie to replace Webster and Robbo to replace Shinner. One thing this post shows is that we have regained depth over the past few years. If anything, this team has more potential talent in it than 2007-11 did under RL. No half a dozen ordinary role players. Quality throughout and with Roo still playing great footy. 2004 reprised coming up.prwilkinson wrote:Full Back: Geary Brown Dempster

Re: Team 2017
Ahh... McKenzie... forgot about D.Mac! Just playing around with the starting 22 made me realise how good the list is starting to look... There's probably 5 players that could easily slot into the team. The club still needs to think long term with replacing Dempster, Rooey and Joey but it's all looking good.White Winmar wrote:Agree with this, except McKenzie to replace Webster and Robbo to replace Shinner. True, more depth than 07-11, but with fewer stars.White Winmar wrote:Agree with this, except McKenzie to replace Webster and Robbo to replace Shinner.
