Brisbane/Adelaide interstate trips
Just wondering how many of us are making the trip/s?
i received a letter from the club today with my brisbane tickets, also informing me that the post match function for the Lions game will be held at the Lord Stanley Hotel, 994 Stanley st east Bbane.
will there be a gathering before the game?
also to the SA saints will you be holding a function after that game as well?

"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."

Yeah, those interstate functions are tops when the team has lost!Cairnsman wrote:I'm going to the Brisbane game but I was really hoping there would be a pre-match function because I'm thinking there may be more evidence of hope being around than compared to the amount that might be left at the post match function.
I went one in Sydney in 2001. We'd just been pumped by the swans.
It's always disappointing to lose but I got a new appreciation for interstate supporters who wait all year to see the team and they come along and play like a pack of ****s.
And then they send Caydn Beetham up to the after match. Tops.
Being a work day and just prior to Easter its not possible to hold a pre match function. We certainly expect to hold one prior to the Suns game though. More on that closer to the game.
If Saints supporters want to get together for a drink prior to the Bris game, I would definately recommend meeting at the Lord Stanley.
The players like coming to Qld, so I am hoping we will be lucky for them

Yeah I particularly liked the Gabba circa 2000 to 2005. My favourite game there was the qualifying final we played there. I think the Lions just got over the top of us by 80 points. The Lions supporters were really beaut about it though.Saints43 wrote:Yeah, those interstate functions are tops when the team has lost!Cairnsman wrote:I'm going to the Brisbane game but I was really hoping there would be a pre-match function because I'm thinking there may be more evidence of hope being around than compared to the amount that might be left at the post match function.

Couldn't believe my luck...until last years final game against Adelaide (which was a training run for us), I'd never been to a St Kilda game where we'd actually lost! Not going on the 30th unfortunately.Saints43 wrote:It's always disappointing to lose but I got a new appreciation for interstate supporters who wait all year to see the team and they come along and play like a pack of ****s.

I went to a post-match fucntion at the Gabba in 2001 - it turned out to be Blighty's last game as coach!Saints43 wrote:Yeah, those interstate functions are tops when the team has lost!Cairnsman wrote:I'm going to the Brisbane game but I was really hoping there would be a pre-match function because I'm thinking there may be more evidence of hope being around than compared to the amount that might be left at the post match function.

Anyway, a heap of Sts fans were waiting in this roo, having a few drinks, and they were announcing, the players will be here soon, blah, blah.
Anyway, i happened to turn around and ALL the players were filing in right behind me and just standing there!! Bazza, Aussie, Gtrain, Sammy Hamill, every one of them!!! It was awesome - shook their hands, dribbled s***, auotgraphs, etc.
