I'd lift Bakes up onto Zac's shoulders and create some deranged rucking totem pole.

Would scare the bejeezus out of the Pies second ruck; probably their first ruck too :P

Gotta love this team and the selections. Planty of new players..and takes on the running strength of the Pies head on....and fora night game in slippery conditions at the G not being overloaded with talls is agood way to go.

Not only does it gives us a different approach and structure to take on the Pies it is very mucha team for the future with lots of the "next wave" being givena taste of what will bea big game in every way....the build up through to the crowd.

Will be a great learning experience for them even if we do get flogged.

I am not wiping off this year by any means...but selections like this give usa lot to look forward to in 2012.

Yeah I'm nervous about how it'll work but ultimately we still have a very experiences team in.

Seems to be a nice combination of blending in the kids while at the same time not snuffing out any chance the team may have of making the finals.

Gotta love The Ross :D

With the inclusion of kids and less experienced players, does anyone think Walsh may get a game against gold coast??

Think he'll be in before that. GC is R19.

Lol.

Can someone photoshop a hippy pot smokin' Ross for
the papers to copy and publish tomorrow please?

Seriously, I like the changes.

Heath is tough nut and so is Bakes. I had a gut feel Ledger would be in
hence my post earlier in the week. Simpkin as well is a big call.

Glad Mini and Kosi are not in, they can't match up with the Pies.

Bakes is slow but could go mental and rough them up, he can go for weeks again provided we win !!!

we'll probably see a lot of players going the ruck - chips and zac, hell even jones might get a ball coming his way if the usual bouncing standards apply.

Plenty of run there for sure - even if Goddard and/or Dempster are late changes, Clarke and McQualter may come in, so you still have the run...

Would have liked Koschitzke or Stanley as that 2nd tall forward and back-up ruck though

If you look at Simpkins junior highlights reel on youtube he is one of those guys who seem to handle the ball well. He looks like he should be great if he put more into his game at VFL level. I have been really looking forward to seeing him play seniors and am hoping he just takes off given the opportunity. sam Fisher up the ground definitely opens a spot for him. Probably the player you would expect him to be most like. I hope Johnson gets another go soon too they were guys I had high hopes for this year along with Smith. I am still thinking it is unlikely that you would allow either Dempster or Goddard to play, Goddard wouldn't be able to look over his shoulder.

Really looking forward to this weekend. Loving watching the kids play. Where is everyone going to be sitting? I want to bunker down on Saturday night and stay away from the magpie fans.

I've got a good feeling about this weekend. It's reminding me of that centenary game when we knocked off the pies back in 1996.... That was a great win. A win this weekend would be very sweet.

Can't see how we will kick a winning score. With only one real tall there is no one there for the bail out kick. Collingwoods press makes it very difficult to spot up targets. Plus their defense is Better suited to the mobile forwards
Big ask for young Siposs, I would have liked another gorilla in the forward 50

What is the forecast for Saturday in Melbourne?

The problem may be that if it is slippery there will be a heap of scrimmages resulting in ball ups and their rucks smashing the ball their way.

Simpkin is listed at 191cm and 91kg

Fisher is listed as 191cm and 92kg

So there is the comparative.

McEvoy is fit enough to ruck at least 75% of the game around the ground if he has to.

Lyon hinted during the week on radio that Fisher may play the "ruck rover" type position, with McEvoy taking the centre bounces and Fisher playing on-ball.

Whilst ruckman can be an advantage in the wet, having an extra player who can win the ball in close can also be an advantage, as the ball hits the ground more frequently.

I think the selections are good. Riewoldt might be forced deep which concerns me slightly, but hopefully he pushes up the ground and leaves some space for our smaller players to kick goals ...

Schneider and Milne are both good wet-track players, and Steven showed against the Cats last year that he knows how to find the goals in the wet ...

IMO the conditions will suit us far more than they will suit Collingwood.

Showers in the morning then fining up but cool.

A team with one ruckman. Let's hope nothing untowards happens to him.

Glad, Tom is in.

I reckon one of either BJ or Dempster wont play, Raph will come in. Roo may do a bit of ruck work and we'll use a decoy CHF.
