He should stay on 199 games.
He falls over regularly and is regularly beaten.
There's a reason he hasn't ever received a Brownlow vote despite 199 opportunities (surely that must tell you something!) - the umpires realise it too - he's simply not a great player.
He and Raph should also be 'retired'.

Enrico_Misso wrote:He is a life member of the club.

He is a more than handy defender.
He can fill in as a ruckman.
He is unselfish and hard.
He gets to the right places.
He knows and sticks to the game plan.
He is a loyal and reliable servant of the club.

AND

He is poised to become the first ever 200 game player to NOT win a single career Brownlow vote.
If there is ANY sentiment in footy, Blake must stay and fulfill his destiny.

Why is it any player that looks like being delisted is all sudden rumored to be off to GWS.
they've signed james mcdonald as a player / coach, who knows what they're capable of.

If they think Blake can contribute next year - which I reckon he can - keep him on the list.
Strong versatile talls are hard to come by...

amazing how change of coach can change a players history
we await the changes for the next season

but watching a game from 2006 there was a comment that had Blight stayed in 2001 Jason Blake would have been delisted

and it's well known that had GT stayed Miney was gone.

both now veterans and Life members of the Club-
personally I think JB deserves some sort of chance to make 200 .

Forget who was or who maybe was going to GWS, nothing is happening now until we get a new coach, no1 is going nowhere nix nuthin nada. Lyin tried to do a deal with Bakes to GWS before he sacked him, but everyhting else is not even on the table.

I was at a sponsors function a few years back when Greg Westaway announced the move to Seaford and how happy the players were with it.

I had been standing with Chips and the Blake and the look that was exchanged between them told me they and others were FAR from happy about the move.

If were going to keep Blake, play Simpkin for most of the year instead and have him as a backup so to speak.

The older players need to move on, especially when we have young guys who can play missing out tbh.

Pretty sure that will not be applicable this year, if he doesn't get at least one point for our final Freo game I'd be absolutely amazed.

Quite a few people thought he would have got votes against Hawthorn a few years ago, but he didn't.

So we can't rule out the prospect that you'll be absolutely amazed on the night.

Well, unlike the Hawks game a few years ago, no-one from the opposition will be a threat of stealing points off him!

Silly to think people would rather delist 21 year olds and keep a 31-32 old on the list to just play 200 games or play as back up.
Effectively means we are wasting a spot on the list or a year for a draftee to get experience.
The hole of players of becoming in their prime is lacking.

anyone actually see how he played this year?

solid defender every game.

runs in straight lines and rarely misses with his foot passing.

one of the best GOPs going around.

doesn't do any complicated s***, spoils, marks, gets passed the ball and spots up a man and hits him.

The only time he gets into trouble is when there is no one for him to pass to, he isn't a quality 'runner' with the ball, such as aussie jones.

Plays tall for his 190 cm or so.

Why on earth wouldn't we keep him?
Loyal and admired by other players, gives his all, versatile, needed.

In the words of some other poster, 'Gotta love the Blake.'

Would rather keep a 30 year old who still performs in the AFL than a 21 year old who can't hold a senior Sandrigham spot.

Jason Blake is such a fantastic club man, so much respect for him.

My favourite Jason memory was the open training session before the 2009 grand final, all the players came out one by one. When Blakey walked down the race, everyone cheered loudly, humble guy that he is he turned around to see who walked out after him and blushed when he saw it was for him.

I am so happy he is staying, this latest delisting in order to fix the salary cap and pick him up again, sums him up.

Love the Blake.
