3 Up - No one down
Several times and also in previous games we have several go up in a marking / spoiling contest and no one at ground level
Couple of times last night we got caught with no one out back and they ran onto the ball with ease
Seriously needs to be looked at because it is costing us goals

Re: 3 Up - No one down
Gawd I hope the coaches pick this up in the video review. Has to be addressed in training. Imagine meeting the Wet Toast in a final, with Cox and Natanui winning every tap-out. We will get smashed every time by Kerr and Priddis et al...ground level players HAVE to get skilled at this.
Another reason why Tigers and Crows kept sweeping the ball out of the centre with no pressure, all their players open and running to position. Scary stuff.

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Re: 3 Up - No one down
Happened again this week with several North players waiting at ground level while we had 3 flying in the air against one of their players
It needs to be addressed pronto

Re: 3 Up - No one down
Part of the trouble is our small/medium defenders are being drawn in to contest trying to give a chop out against bigger forwards, really lacking kp backman

Re: 3 Up - No one down
doing this they leave their man free to mop up - having 3 go up means their are two opposition players at ground levelbergsone wrote:Part of the trouble is our small/medium defenders are being drawn in to contest trying to give a chop out against bigger forwards, really lacking kp backman
We have been smashed at ground level around marking contests best part of the last 2 years - it has been very noticeable in my eyes anyway
Helping your team mate by giving the chop out is great but no good if they end up getting the ball anyway
Just one part of our game which I think is really dumb - 2 up I can understand but 3 up unless we mark it or punch it out of bounds puts us at an extreme disadvantage

Re: 3 Up - No one down
This is the most commonly taught tactic in football from very junior levels.
Have someone crumbing! Not everyone needs to go into the marking contest.

Re: 3 Up - No one down
Theres no issue when its a good defensive punch out of the drop zone or danger area, but when one of them comes in and tries to mark the footy, thats when you risk the oposition crumbers hurting you.
I think I saw Bigboy running hard to get to a contest in the goalsqure and instead of trying to punch or knock to the boundary, he tried to mark the ball and if u dont mark it just dropped front and square and the North boys pounced and goaled. It was a Shame that Macca undid his good work, because he had just marked and goaled up the other end about two minutes before that.
