I actually have no idea but I did say we would both find articles to suit our positions.
I'm going on what your source told you, logic will tell you that thatdoesn't equate to $600k x 3, or even close.

If you or your source think $600k x3 = 'wasn't a great deal but it matched his form at the time', then you're on or taking the p1ss.

Jobe Watson is having a BBQ tonight with other Essendon players and coaches to Welcome Brendan Goddard to the club as the saints conceed they cannot match the offer.

No I never thought that. I was just backing up what I said regarding finding articles. I have no idea what we offered BJ but 500K over 3 years is what I said they should offer and I did say that at least 3 weeks ago. I have no doubt everything I have heard on the BJ things has a fair bit of truth in it and it did come from 3 separate people.

Unfortunately we'll never know what he would've taken x 4, coz we only offered him $475k x 3, not negotiable.

Why isnt it 1.9 million over 3 years that was reported 2 weeks ago?
Do you even believe that?

I would say its close to the mark. Would have heard otherwise if we were trying to undersell him.

He is not worth the money.

Matching the offer would be foolish.

See ya BJ.

Hello pick 13 and some cap room.

Seriously, he isnt worth the money.

For all the (sensible) analysis concerning whether we can and/or should pay over the odds/match the offer/beg him to stay, all of which I empathise with, the thought of him running round in a Bombers guernsey leaves me gutted. I am still getting over the gruesome sight of Luke Ball wearing the black and white against us in GF1 and 2, 2010. Right now, the thought of BJ going feels worse. If this is free agency at its best, the future looks bleak.

when all said and done right up to the club saying 'yes Match' or even 'No match' the player has the right to say I'll stay or I'm going...
FA was designed to give the players control-- at every step the player can say I'm staying....

finals and finance according to BJ and no falling out---
- only a few really know....

I agree that there should be more incentives put in place for players to stay at their original clubs. What I think we're likely to see is a lot of 27-28 year old players reaching their peak and getting fair money at their own club, but there will often be another team prepared to pay overs to fix a deficiency and go for a flag. Especially since now they don't have to give anything back via trading.

I assume he'll be getting new golf clubs- given he has 18 all over his and Hurley is 18 at the Bombers-- :|

I'm very disappointed about this news. The longer it dragged on the more unlikely it was that he would stay though
Thanks for your many years of wonderful service Brendon.

Agreed. Pelchin and Watters have a long, long way to go before I'm convinced that we're heading in the right direction.
