Re: draft - shake up
Straight off the Farcebook Page draft/trade feed:
BIG news for Melbourne fans. The dees are set to send Pick 13 to the Gold Coast suns in return for Josh Caddy.
Apparently, a deal has been spoken of between the dees and the suns, that the suns wouldn't bid for Viney, and that instead Melbourne will give them pick 13 for Caddy.
Fair deal? Or trade tampering?
Regardless, it's a super outcome for Melbourne.

Re: draft - shake up
Not far of draft tampering but good on Melbourne, good for them
I love this club
Re: draft - shake up
How is it draft tampering? They traded something for something else. That's not exactly "tampering" unless you use some weird AFL definition.Stillwaiting wrote:Not far of draft tampering but good on Melbourne, good for them

seems unlikely that the dees would get caddy with 13, when we would probably be offering pick 12 (or thirteen for goddard)
I would say they have organised to use pick 4 for caddy.....

Well there's also talk of them trading pick 3 to GWS for the minidraft pick for a gun 17 year old. They trade out their pick 4 and they have nothing until 13 or 14 (although they would have a gun 17yo and Caddy to show for it).

yup - the fallout from the monstorous $750k a year paid to Goddard begins.
Lance or James??

It's a smart move - possibly more than Bumbers would have got in free agency for him, and it means Port don't dilute their free agency compo......matrix wrote:LOL

We are talking about the same player right?matrix wrote:pick 48 is nothing to give away for a half decent player
Atleast Port can move one of those seat covers into the forward pocket, soap it up a little and he'll feel right at home.

Re: draft - shake up
bombers would have gotten nothing in FA for him, because they got goddard who is much more highly rated than gussy....
hence, a win for the bombers because they could have got nothing, now at least they have something to trade with another player they will need to get rid of, and might get something even better....
I must admit I am enjoying watching them lose people to pay for bj.... soothes the heartache

Re: draft - shake up
exactly
port win so they lose nothing in fa compo picks
they also get a half decent player
i mean he isnt shite but he's not a gun
smart by port
also bumbers lose nothing either (with the bj deal) and gain 48
smart
not sure what a slippery slide mat has to do with anything

Re: draft - shake up
Why would GC Suns just hand all of this to Melbourne on a platter when they can get a similar pick for Caddy elsewhere and get Viney as well?True Believer wrote:Straight off the Farcebook Page draft/trade feed:

Re: draft - shake up
Because the Suns wanted to send their first pick to GWS for one of the 17yo pre-listed guns they have to trade away. That's the suns first round pick so they will trade Caddy away for another first rounder somwhere.Con Gorozidis wrote: Why would GC Suns just hand all of this to Melbourne on a platter when they can get a similar pick for Caddy elsewhere and get Viney as well?

Melb get the other 17yo for their pick 3 , plus they get Viney, for 26. I figure the deal is that Melb and GC have agreed not to stuff each others trades up for the guys that want out at both clubs (Hickey, Caddy, Moloney, etc). they both get a gun 17yo, and both still end up with first rounders.
