Moderators/ Suggestions
Hey guys, hope we've all been well.
Just having a look through the site and thought I would throw out an idea...
Is it time for some fresh mods to jump on board? after having a look through the admins and mods recent posting history it has disappointed to note that nearly all of us have become less and less active over time, I don't know about everyone else so I can only speak for myself when I say that I've lost a lot of passion for the site.
I think bringing some new mods on board could rejuvenate the place a bit and I would suggest more rotating of responsibilities, this site seems to have a history of mods/admin being driven away from the site so maybe we could swap responsibilities at the end of every season?
Would love to see if people could put their hat in the ring or make recommendations for others.
Personally I would like to nominate Saintbrat and SainterK.
These two have shown that they have the consistant passion for the club/site and are a couple of the most level headed members we've had... I know saintbrat has stated in the past that she doesn't have any interest, I don't recall sainterK ever speaking about it but still thought they were the two most appropriate suggestions.
Anyway just throwing out some thoughts.

Re: Moderators/ Suggestions
I would have thought P66 and Clarky, possibly Stinger, should also be considered.
Just my opinion.

I think i would be excellent. Its all about fun. People take it to seriously. The only problem i have is I am not on the site enough. Stinger would be good because you could call him anything you like and he wouldnt know as he has half the forum on his foe list.
I clearly think the best 2 on here would be Spacey and Dave Macca. Both seem like good guys and get the jokes and dont take things seriously.

I'd have to nominate Joffaboy. 16,000 or so considered, sensible and well articulated posts is testament to his passion for the site.
Are we waiting for a saviour?

Re: Moderators/ Suggestions
I would do the opposite, I would have only stickies & people could PM me with topic ideas, then I would approve only my favourites. That way the topics that I deem important would always be up the top, for everybody. Too bad if you're not interested in VFL recruits.magnifisaint wrote:if i was a mod i'd ban all stickies

I was wondering if the sites "staleness" was simply mirroring that of a team that has just come off one its great periods of success (without the big one) and is now morphing into a site reflective a middle of the road side without its "next great gun" in sight....
I do know the "info" level of the site appears to be falling.
More threads are jacked by the "new knobs"
Longer term posters are seen less.
net result for me is I spend a lot more time trawling Bigfooty for my news.......where once upon a time SS was all u needed.
All this could also simply be growing up - realising that maybe the footy club and its success that were once so important are becoming less so as lifes other competing priorities take over.
Nothing a flag wont fix ofcourse...

Re: Moderators/ Suggestions
I think we should have the first week in November as SS Mod Free Agency period. Those who want to step down, or those who receive a big enough bribe from another poster to step down, are free to move on.
The second week of November can be the SS mod Trade Week, where those mods left can swap their positions with rank and file posters.
In order for a "swap" (ie trade) to occur, they need at least a 100 votes.

If Mods are reading this thread for suggestions, many people have asked for a picture of disabled people to be removed from the thread 'for the trolls' because they find it extremely offensive.
If you agree or otherwise, the concept that it distresses so many should be enough...could it please be removed?

Move on...the thread will go away in time anyway...the mods have replied....no action requiredSainterK wrote:If Mods are reading this thread for suggestions, many people have asked for a picture of disabled people to be removed from the thread 'for the trolls' because they find it extremely offensive.

Will we pick up a player in the SSP window
Re: Moderators/ Suggestions
Poor reflection of the forum and St Kilda supporters if the picture isn't removed. People on the forum get all worked up over personal attacks during arguments, but a picture of disabled people in the context of that thread is deemed alright?bobmurray wrote:Move on...the thread will go away in time anyway...the mods have replied....no action requiredSainterK wrote:If Mods are reading this thread for suggestions, many people have asked for a picture of disabled people to be removed from the thread 'for the trolls' because they find it extremely offensive.

Re: Moderators/ Suggestions
Looks like the OP is floating a Grant Thomas style of rotation.
I think that it is a fair idea. Although I don't post a lost, I have been a member of Saintsational since its infancy. I do visit regularly and it does appear to be slower these days than in the past. I have no preference for who the moderators are, so long as they are fair and responsive.
I would suggest that moderators embrace Social Media a little more. If you were to tweet new and/or popular posts, I'd be more log in and contribute when something of interest comes across my feed.

Re: Moderators/ Suggestions
its the actually site imo
we had the chance to really have this site looking fantastic with huge options and updates
go and have a look at truesainters that thunda has set up
theres all the facebook and twitter links that peeps like (i have nothing to do with either)
polls, shout bar at the top, inbedded vids, blogs and much more
i bet that it costs not much more than this
imo once we errrr 'upgraded', which had to be done with all the hacks and the site going down so often, we had the chance to really make this place the best on the web for afl fan sites.
have a look at it
whats changed?
it looks exactly the same, basic and a bit out dated
this is where the whole argument came from a few of us that we're willing to chip in some decent money to kick it off but admin didnt want a bar of going bigger and better.
i know of around 5 or so members that wouldve chipped in if it was going to be a big improvement, they could see it wasnt going that direction so at least $500+ was missed out on.
now we're stuck with this
+1 for sainterk
id vote for spacey too
