Okay I know a lot has been said about this game in New Zealand about whether its a good idea or not.
I personally am worried now that since we have almost no chance of beating Sydney that if any new supporters/members are to be made from this game that they will almost all choose to support Sydney.
Trust our luck/organising that we are playing the reigning premiers down there!

Any one else feel that this could b the case?
It seems crucial if we want it to be a success that we at least stay competitive through out the match!

I don't know what the arrangements are for subsequent years but if we are playing a different team there every year, why would you bother supporting a team that is not coming back.

Fair point. My simple mind had not thought of this, although I for some reason(maybe imagining) thy made it out like it would be a rivalry/yearly match? Anyone confirm?
In saying that there was talk of playing 2 or 3 games there a year.

There is a St Kilda in New Zealand and our patchy history coupled with our red light vice capital image gets plenty of foreigners in. I have got us about 12 overseas fans because of our unique marketing image- people outside Australia know of St Kilda and Kings Cross

The mardi gras swans doesn't sound like something that would appeal to too many.

The Swans is possibly the girliest name ever- at least the Hawks swapped from the Mayblooms. Kiwis like smashing bottles in each others faces for fun- and that's just the girls.

There was actually a wellington saints team that played AFL, not sure if they are still going. There is also the Wellington Saints that play in the local basketball league, so hopefully if we at least keep competitive the kiwis will follow us.

An Australian, a Kiwi and South African are in a bar one night having a beer.

All of a sudden the South African drinks his beer, throws his glass in the air pulls out a gun and shoots the glass to pieces.. "In Seth Efrika our glasses are so cheap that we don't need to drink from the same one twice," he says.

The Australian, cool as a Koala, picks up his beer and drinks it, throws his glass in the air, pulls out his gun and shoots the South African and the Kiwi. He turns to the astonished barman and says," In Strailya mate, we have so many bloody South Africans and Kiwis that we don't need to drink with the same ones twice."

An Englishman wanted to become an Irishman, so he visited a doctor to find out how to go about this. "Well" said the doctor, "this is a very delicate operation and there is a lot that can go wrong. I will have to remove half your brain". "That's OK" said the Englishman. "I've always wanted to be Irish and I'm prepared to take the risk".

The operation went ahead but the Englishman woke to find a look of horror on the face of the doctor. "I'm so terribly sorry!!" the doctor said. "Instead of removing half the brain, I've taken the whole brain out". The patient replied, "No worries, mate!!"

There was an Australian, a Kiwi and Claudia Schiffer sitting
together in a carriage in a train going through Tasmania. Suddenly
the train went through a tunnel and as it was an old style train,
there were no lights in the carriage and it went completely dark.
Then there was this kissing noise and the sound of a really loud
slap.

When the train came out of the tunnel, Claudia Schiffer and the
Kiwi were sitting as if nothing had happened and the Australian
had his hand against his face as he had been slapped there.
The Australian was thinking: 'The Kiwi fella must have kissed
Claudia Schiffer and she missed him and slapped me instead.'
Claudia Schiffer was thinking: 'The Australian fella must have
tried to kiss me and actually kissed the Kiwi and got slapped for it.'

And the Kiwi was thinking: 'This is great. The next time the
train goes through a tunnel I'll make that kissing noise and slap
that Australian again .'
