Williams is the target
I only really have one source of information at AFL level.... Whom I rarely see.... In fact I haven't heard from him for a few years..
Ran into him today for a few minutes, he's a another club fan..... He is firm that Choco is the target and whilst he will go through a process, unless he shows he isn't Hungary enough or is not up to date tactically
He will be signed for 3 years
He has been on the money generally (with trades and coaching moves) and has a very good VFL/TAC cup background knowledge...

Whats the point of going through the coaching selection panel if we've already made up our mind (it seems).
Pfft... not sure what all the rave is about tbh.

Re: Williams is the target
Since when did being a Hungarian become a criteria for the coaching position?

Cheers BM,
It makes sense, you get the feeling they may have been in contact for quite awhile.
I certainly prefer him over Ratten, Voss & Co.
We need a good developer and Choco is pretty famous for this,
Think Banger will come back to coach one day, but not yet.

Re: Williams is the target
At first I thought,... Choco NO!!!!!
But then I realised that was more based on PA having the wood over us.
One aspect the Saints have lacked over the years is that little bit of aggression, mongrel, in our play. And even in these cleanskin rules days, tere is stilla vital requirement for this in teams. Williams does instil this in is teams.
I do like the idea of Tudor. But after the recent turmoil at the Saints post-Lyon an experienced coach is probable going to b ea lot more reassuring and bankable with players fans, potential sponsors, fans and even the media.
Post PA Williams has been working with very young lists at GWS and the the Tigers....and most importantly has received glowing praise for his work with developing and encouraging young players. The Saints now has a very young list. You would imagine that Williams would also work well with our old guard too.
Now what other experienced coaches are there? I think Williams ticks more boxes than all other available ex-senior coaches.
He has already taken an under-performing team to GF's and a premiership.
He deserves to be the favourite. Someone else would have to be outstanding in the interviews, and Williams poor to not get the gig.
The other way of looking at it is to list the reasons why Williams should not be appointed. If I am brutally honest, I cannot think of one.

Considering that it was reported in the media before we even got the sacking stick out I would say he's about 90% home. 3 years would be the standard first contract for a senior coach.

Yes very good coach, tactically rarely off Denmark. He'd cause plenty of Spain for the opposition. During these negotiations he's asking if we could Sweden the deal.WellardSaint wrote:Showed a lot of Polish when he coached PortMunga wrote:Czech your spelling, don't want to look like a Turkey.BigMart wrote:I only really have one source of information at AFL level.... In all serious we need to get this right. We can't Rome around forever looking for a coach but we also can't be Russian in to a decision either.
Re: Williams is the target
I loled. Over here 5aa were talking to Caro and she intimated that choco would be named tomorrow arvo as the coach of Stkilda. The s hyte that she and 5aa (rowe and Mcdermott) have put on us in the last few weeks has been disgusting. When the dust dies down i am going to email the club imploring them NOT to do any pre match interviews with this radio station. They go out of their way to bag us whenever they canBernard Shakey wrote:In the words of Professor Watson, "No s*** Sherlock".

Norway we'd rush this. Pelch is saying to himself, "Ireland a good coach soon enough". Interesting if we end up with Williams Andorra Harvey.Life Long Saint wrote: Geez BM...Europe them in don't you?

How about the toxic nature in which he left Port and if he was so good why did GWS effectively change its mind on him taking over from Sheedy??
How them is his departure from those two clubs any different from Watters departure from the Saints.
I have my concerns. I really liked Hinkley but that ship has sailed. Tudor certainly worth a look.
Harvey must be doing well now but always a danger bringing back a favourite son. Didn't Thomas bring in the "captain rotation" policy to move Harvey out of the leadership role?
